The difference is that there are 4,000 children being murdered every day as a result of abortion. So far as I know, none of these other examples involve actual mass murder the way abortion does.

Of course if you look up the word holocaust, you'll see that it doesn't just refer to Jews and Nazis, but to widespread destruction of human life. (And with that definition in mind, yes abortion is a widespread and "wholesale" destruction of human life.)

There is a wisdom to analogies.
Those who knew what Hitler did and found it reprehensible [99.9% of the world] can articulate the horrors in their own heads much better than when speaking of a baby they cannot see.

Its unreal to most ppl because the baby is unseen.
The humans in the graves are seen.

Though both have killed millions - abortions have out numbered even the holocaust victims.
Something to ponder.

I think i had a deja vu when writing this post.

"Holocaust" in modern usage refers almost solely to the mass murder of Jews by Nazis. Holocaust in general terms refers to masive death by fire or explosion. Holocaust in Old Testament usage refers to sacrificial offerings consumed by flames.

Some could. Pol Pot's actions could be, by a dullard, compared to the holocaust. They aren't generally, because it was a seperate event entirely, in spite of the fact that lots of people were killed. What divides them is greater than what unites them. Just like abortion and the Nazi holocaust. The way to stop the Nazi holocaust was to spend billions of dollars and millions of lives fighting a war which would reshape the world. Defeating abortion on-demand won't be that simple, it was around way before the great-great-great-great-great grandparents of the Nazis were concieved.

Please note that I did not use the capital "H" which would denote the holocaust of the mass murder of Jews by Nazis. I used the small "h". The dictionary (American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, American Heritage Publishing Company and Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston/New York/Atlanta/Geneva, Illinois/Dallas/Palo Alto) notes three definitions. 1. a sacrificial offering; 2. Great or total destruction by fire; a conflagration ; and 3. any widespread destruction and loss of life.

Under definition #1 abortion just might qualify as a holacaust since it is a "sacrifice" to this culture of death. But under #3 it definitely seems to qualify as a "widespread destruction and loss of life."

Oh. Come. On.

A sacrifice to the culture of death? Has anyone ever commited an abortion as a "sacrifice to the culture of death"?

Holocaust in the 3rd definition you provide would also apply to spntaneous abortions. Is God guilty of a holocaust?

#3 is appropriate since it is widespread ''destruction'' and loss of life.

I dont see how God is put into this Mike. This is destruction of life - and it is widespread. World wide if you would.

Okay, I'll help. Sometimes (actually quite often) God decides to end a life before the baby is born. Most often the woman never even knows she was pregnant - but the baby was there and was very much alive. God's plan for that life was (apparently) to end it before birth. To destroy that life (but not the sould, of course). He's God, that's His perogative and I'm not about to question His ways...but spontaneous abortion is widespread destruction of life and if we're going by dictionary definitoins instead of common usage, that's a holocaust now.

When God allows something [like this] it is not for the destruction of that life, but the life is unsustainable in a miscarriage for whatever reason.
To put this on Him as His choice is like saying He causes cancer and every other disease... which is untrue.
He allows it.

Man took on sin with the fall. With the fall came every evil including all things diseased.

You understand the difference now?
