Oh that one is easy. Just go through one of the old examination of consciences (my old pre-Vatican II missal had one, and I bet some of the internet sites--like Fisheaters--have one as well.)

Again, I am not attacking your beliefs, just wondering why the unborn are more important than those living in the midst of pain and misery.
This might open your eyes to what is REALLY going on the world...but once abortion is considered - unimportant and acceptable - the rest of corruption is led in.
This was the start of the apathetic, and corrupt generation.
The results - well, eventually evil will if it is not already consuming the world.
Go after babies - the rest shall come.
[insert dramatic movie music]
I am not kidding btw. Abortion is the end of us all.
That aside - its unnecesary murder to the most innocent.

Quite simply you couldn't be more wrong. while most or at least alot of Catholics are abhorred by the killling of defenceless children we also devote alot of time helping people alot less fortunate than us in the 3rd World.
there are countless Catholic relief organisations doing work all across Africa, asia and in Latin America... |

If you think abortion is in the same category as rape and murder, why are you pro-choice?

Just because you don't care about abortion doesn't mean we don't care about rape, murder and pillaging. Apparently it's possible for us to not only be pro-life as regards to abortion, but everything else at the same time. And I see no evidence that Catholics aren't concerned about such plights all over the world. As S.Ilvio pointed out, there are oodles of Catholic organizations around the world addressing problems JUST LIKE THAT, who are funded by no small amount by our donations and support.
And for the record, I don't think I've ever seen you setup a thread about the violence in Darfur, so you really shouldn't talk. |

Definitely. The idea that Catholics are not concerned about poverty, hunger, etc is odd...I can attest first hand that that is not true.
When my family was in a dire financial hardship, it was a Catholic run food bank that helped us out with food and other needed items. One of the two homeless shelters in my city is Catholic. Those are just a couple of examples in my local area. I am sure that it would be easy to find many more examples in all parts of the world.

In Ireland the Society of St Vincent de Paul has a massive programme in place that helps folk out with food, clothing and at Christmas rtime buying presents for children in families on the breadline. All funded by personal churchgate donations... |
