I happen to be one of the lucky few who have debilitating arthritis (spondylitis) in my lower back. The back of my pelvic bone is already corroded, and the fibromyalgia I have doesn't help things either. I wake up so early in the morning from the pain... It won't go away.
I see a doctor at a specialized pain clinic and am now in Physical Therapy, which drains me and my muscles spasm horribly. I've just learned to a accept it, as there is no cure, and lumbar injections don't work. The corrosion is creeping higher and higher. I don't know what else to do.
Anybody else with similar issues?

I have arthritis in my knuckles but that's where it's limited to.
I have something in my lower back and right pelvic area called a Copeland node and big problems with the right siatic nerve. The longer I spend on my feet the worse the hip is. I too wake in the middle of the night and early in the morning from pain and numbness. I also have spasms so drinking gatorade and power aid help with potassium levels when working excercising, or therapy. I switch up different medications which makes them work better. Any pain regiment will be more effective if your doctor is willing to switch up different medications.
I'm not giving advice but to me the worst thing people do is not moving around or even light exercise to bring better blood flow to injured areas or healing areas. Stick with the therapy. It will get worse if the muscles get weak in the surrounding areas.
I wish you the best and keep us updated on the progress.

Thanks, TG... I myself have mild sciatica down my right leg and bursitis in that hip. I should probably walking with some sort of cane, but I don't want to do that until one of my specialists tells me to.
I'll keep you posted.

Hey Murmur,
I get up in the middle of the night sometimes just to walk around and get movement in the hip. After 5-10 minutes the pain lessens and I go back to bed. Usually.
I hope your doctor advises some movement for you also.
I'm not recommending movement for an immediate injury but lingering problems.
Again I hope things get better for you. Let me know what happens.

Hi Christine,
Welcome to the, " We're all in pain club".
Sorry about your stuff, that stinks.
If you like to read check out my wife's books. They are Y/A Christian horror. We just signed a movie contract for the first 2. Author Lisa Grace, Angel in the Shadows and Angel in the Storm. Angel in the Ice will be out late this week. They are Amazon ebooks but the Kindle app. is free.
If you don't have the dough, I'll have Lisa send them to you. Let me know. I think you'll really like them. reading is a good distraction from pain.
Hang tough, drop me a line.

I have the same condition (ankylosing spondilitus) plus fibromyelga (sp?) and a few other things but for now I'll stick with the AS/Fibro!! I'm 40 and have had pain from it since 17. I started taking pain meds in 1999 but you never really get out of the pain even on the best day,am I right? I once played 4 instruments,Oil paint on canvas and played golf. Sadly, those days are long over. How do you deal with your AS?
