It sounds like you've experienced some weird implementations of Christianity. Me, I've had my fair share as well. It's always a disappointment when people who are supposed to have a firm foundation in the word don't have a clue about even the most basic principles. Principles like love your neighbour and so on. To demand money from the poor to replace a good carpet - oi vey. I can just imagine what Jesus would have had to say to that.
You know, the church where I attend these days isn't WoF, but they do seem to do well in keeping to the basics. Love is one example of those - they spend most of what comes in to reach out to the poor, and the sick. Some of the finer points in the theology is a bit off - but they do seem to have this love thing covered rather well.
Me, I'm a firm believer in sticking to the basic principles. Everything else seems to fall into place that way.

I never heard him say that, so I can't answer that. Even so, I can't answer what another man says, in most cases. I can only agree or disagree.
I know Hagin, Sr. as one who mainly taught on the principles of faith. I had the privilege of hearing him in person for a week seminar, and I read many of his books and booklets. I was blessed by them all and did not run into anything that was way off based.
That's about all I can say about that matter. Maybe someone else can answer your question more fully. I'm not too big about talking about others.
I like talking about Jesus though! I like to talk about His Word, and I like putting it in my heart and in my mouth. I like praying for others.
That is what this thread is mainly designed to do. We are here to glory the Lord and build one another up.
On a side note, even in the best of churches things will go wrong. People mess up! What andre said was good about making the main thing the main thing and letting petty things go.

I'm happy that there was someone there who could mow the man's yard and who genuinely cared for him. Leadership is about servanthood, not about being exalted. However time to attend to the Word to feed the flock is essential and the early church faced it too. That can be studied in Acts 6 I believe. If you can't find it there I will look it up for you. Time won't allow me to post it now, I have to do TONS of things today. I even stayed home from the prayer meeting I go to EVERY Monday, and it wasn't to get caught up here, so I better exercise control now and take care of the things the Lord showed me to do today.
I am glad I said this much though. Very glad! It is good for us to fellowship here with one another.

Fear is for those who don't know God. God is love, and the revelation of that glorious love is what changes hearts. The beginning of wisdom is indeed fear for the Lord - and it's just that - the *beginning*. But the ultimate fulfilment of wisdom is to love the Lord our God with every fibre of our being. It is out of true love that we'd rather die than to rebel against Him who loves us to perfection.
Indeed, it is not written that we are to be so afraid of God that we die from panic attacks. The more we know Him, the more we love Him. After all, isn't His Holy Spirit the perfect love that casts out all fear?
