A quote by President Bush..."...a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom"

On the occasion of the September 11, 2011 memorial, President Bush quoted a letter / prayer from President Lincoln saying, “I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.”

upon the altar of freedom….a sacrifice for the belief in freedom of rights, freedom of religion, freedom to one’s choice of lifestyle, etc.

…freedom …so that one can establish the belief/religion/god that one chooses to be right.

…freedom…to say that there is no One True and Only God.

…freedom…to confess that Christ is not the Only True Way

…freedom…to advance a generic god, claiming him to represent all “religions”

…freedom…it is only Satan who is the father of this belief.

Christ never spoke about the sacrifice for “the belief in and desire for one’s self-freedoms”.

Christ taught us to live and stand for the One and Only True Way of Life….to love the True Creator God, the Holy Father, with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength…and Only Him….and to love our neighbor (and enemy),by way of God’s righteousness (not man’s), as ourselves.

Christ was not crucified in the name of “one’s freedoms”. He did not die on the altar of freedom.

The apostles and all the faithful disciples did not die on the altar of freedom.

It is clear that President Bush does not and that President Lincoln did not confess Christ to be the Son of the One and Only True God. In addition to this President Bush has also blasphemed the Name of Christ and His sacrifice.

President Bush and President Obama spoke pompous words at this memorial, declaring the belief in freedom of rights as the god / world religion of man. They are advancing this belief as Daniel described to be the “god of fortresses”.

During this memorial President Obama quoted Psalms 46, making mention of God of Jacob. This was intentionally done because the Hebrews, the Christians, and the Muslims all claim this same God.

However, it is clear in God’s word that Christ is the Only Identifying Sign. Not once has any one of these "Christians" publicly confess this.

The return of Christ is at hand. If one does not confess Christ, He will neither confess him.

...there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth...by man and by many "hypocritical Christians".

I pray that you will not be among them.

What do you expect from politicians? They're men of worldly power not faith. You can't take them seriously.

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

America is about the God of America and when you can some how merge God and America together in some eloquent puzzle and a picture of the flag waving it will capture what most people identify with and what most people will fight for.

I don't exactly agree with everything President Bush said or believes, but there is freedom in the cross. Not "freedom" as we think of American liberty or the freedom that gives us the right to do what ever it is we want to do, this freedom is the freedom from sin. Despite the conglomeration of what "freedom" is for America & God by Pres. Bush being a bit shady, there most definitely is freedom with being in Christ.

Lincoln made a great speech, 10'000's died at Gettysburg and 100'000's more in the Civil War and was speaking to those that lost loved ones in the fight for freedom.

Bush used Lincoln because he is too dumb to write his own speeches, but still a worthwhile remark to the many that died during 9/11

Why take a personal swipe at Bush to make your point? Show me any recent president who wrote his own speeches.

Ironic that a man who appears to have the most genuine Christian faith of any president in recent times is so derided on a Christian forum.

He was far from a perfect president...but I do consider him a brother in Christ.
