Matthew Chapter 7

I was talking to my husband about this yesterday. I asked him that if he knew I was depressed and I was holding a knife to my arm to cut myself, would he just sit there and try to talk me out of it -or- would he try to grab the knife out of my hand, talk to me, and make sure I wasn't out of his sight?

He said "Of course, I'd get the knife out of your hand and keep an eye on you!"

So how is Amy's situation different from a person trying to hurt themselves?

Her parents knew she had issues, I'm assuming she had a least one true friend who was concerned about her, and all of her fans and the media were covering what she was doing--- its just shocking that nobody could have gotten to her, protected her, and MADE her get help.

People who are suffering won't make the right choice all the time-- we need others to take the responsibility sometimes and make sure we get help.
Some times family and friends can't step in. Either they don't know how to or situations make them unable to. Legally, a family member needs to bring it to court and a judge than decides all of the legalities. It could be that her family and friends didn't know all of the details and they didn't know. It happens.

My sister who is dead now.. died some time ago... her life style was drugs, but she quit the drugs, but had hep C and she became diabetic and she didn't like the restrictions of diabetes... and she did what she wanted and ate what she wanted... she is dead now... and there was NOTHING that I could have done for her or that my father or mother could have done for her... she was "SELF DESTRUCTIVE"... That being said.. underneath it all, she did give her heart to Jesus and she didn't understand things..., but I do believe that at the end of her life, she did make peace with God. These things are tricky... they are unprictactable... blaming her friends and family (which is not what you have done).. is a mistake... Some times, young and old people die because we think that somehow we are immortal.. that sometimes we can overcome the "odds", but at the end... we die. We meet God or whoever.. and then we are judged...

Here's the hopeful thing... God, our Father in heaven, is NOT limited by our human understanding of spirituality. He is not limited by our human understanding of life and death and the unknown.... and here as a Catholic, I have hope... that somehow, despite my loving sister's way of life.. that somehow, God in His epiphany love and mercy will know that my sister .. . she just didn't know or understand things... of God and forgiveness and heaven... that is my hope... that is all I can cling to.

I love my sister.... as I'm sure that Amy is beloved by her family... My prayers are for her... HUGS and for her familiy. What heartache and pain and sorrow they must be feeling now... and CONTINAULY.

The autopsy will prove that this young lady... this young adult.. somehow.. took an overdose of whatever. Does it even matter? My prayers are for her and her family... and on their behalf... my heart aches.

At work this last 2 weeks... a co-worker had to bury her 29 year old daughter, soon to be 30.. and another co-worker found her roommate dead. He was in his early twenties... What is going on in this world that is causing our young ones to die... at the prime of their life... that is my sorrow, my burden.. and a mind blowing thing... All I can do, is privately
weep.

This world is filled with soooo much pain and sorrow... and loss... it's getting difficult to even think... and yet... I do, and pray and with God's grace... survive.... I don't understand this world.

Where Peter is, there is the Church. Where the Church is, there is eternal Life.

"The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father's role in an increasingly fatherless society"- Mother Theresa

"But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion?

As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love - that is, to give until it hurts... her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems.

And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion".
- Mother Theresa

If only you would have said yes yes yes...
She had a wonderful voice and her demise is tragic, but when I observe toxic or self-harming behavior, I can't get the lyrics of Rehab out of my mind.
