I love it but rarely have time to read anymore. I loved the Wheel of Time but it's been so long since I read any (Crossroads of Twilight) that I have forgotten most of the subplots and "minor" characters. I hear it's all about to be finished and I doubt I could get back into it with all the forgotten stuff and I don't have time to reread them.

thats kinda creepy cuz thats the exact one im on. its number 10 and 13 just came out. i will agree its an intense story. 20+ main characters. 50+ minor ones. and like 7 intersecting plot lines with each book being about 8-900 pages....theres just a lot there!!!

I agree about "The Wheel of Time." I was an avid follower of the series when it first came out, but lost interest when I really got too busy to spend a lot of time reading. So a couple of years ago, I decided to pick up again with the series. I had to go back to "The Eye of the World" and start over. I read pretty far into the series before having to give up again (due to lack of funds). I'm not really sure I want to continue, though. Robert Jordan died, so they have some other guy trying to finish the series based on his notes.

up to number 12 are now in paperback and theres always the library!!! and brandon sanderson was picked by jordan's wife to finish the series because she was deeply impressed by his work. and jordan had made extensive notes before he died. so the series is being completed as it was meant to be completed.
another amazing series is The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny.

I read the Corwin Cycle as a teen! Wow, you're knocking some dust loose in my brain.
One of my favorite series was Fred Saberhagen's Books of Swords. I liked how he actually had a scientific reason for the existence of magic and other fantasy elements, though that was explained in a previous series (The Empire of the East). At one time I had the entire Song of Swords committed to memory, 12 verses for 12 swords. Talk about geeking out. lol

you should definitely look into the merlin cycle. it pretty amazing. they dont sell them series as individual books anymore i had to buy the omnibus version. it was kind of cumbersome but still worth it. its called The Great Book of Amber.
and The Wheel of Time and The Chronicles of Amber are the only series ive read that can actually be found in the fantasy section. i read a lot of teen and young adult fantasy. most because i was a teen/young adult when i started reading most of the series i have. there are some very good series in those sections. anything by Garth Nix for one. you should look into the Old Kingom Trilogy by him. its can also be called the Abhorsen Trilogy. and i had this memorized at one point. its the song of the bright shiners:
I'll sing you a song of the long ago. Seven shine the Shiners, oh! What did the Seven do way back when? Why, they wove the Charter then! Five for the warp, from beginning to end. Two for the woof, to make and mend. That's the Seven, but what of the Nine-- What of the two that chose not to shine? The Eighth did hide, hide all away, But the Seven caught him and made him pay. The Ninth was strong and fought with might, But lone Orannis was put out of the light, Broken in two and buried under hill, Forever to lie there wishing us ill.
but theres a lot thats good. the Lost Years of Merlin series by T.A. Barron. The Pendragon series. Eragon series. Percy Jackson. The Chronicles of Chrestomanci. Monster Blood Tattoo trilogy. The Rangers Apprentice Series. 100 Cupboards trilogy. The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series. and the list goes on.
got anything to recommend for when i catch up with the most recently published of The Wheel of Time?

I would highly recommend The Empire of the East and the Books of Swords by Saberhagen. Empire isn't really necessary for the story but it helps fill in the history leading up to it and explains "the change" which made magic work, among other things. Personally, I think it's worth reading just for the final battle between ARDNEH and Orcus.
The First/Second/Third Book of Swords may or may not be available individually but they are pretty much straight up fantasy with occasional references to "Old World technology" but it doesn't play much of a role in the story at all.
They are followed by the Books of Lost Swords which continues the story of main characters from the BoS as well as the stories of the various swords.

those 3 series are quite a few books! i looked them up on fantasticfiction.com. but ive added them to my list...which is getting quite long! but i think you should definitely check out the Abhorsen trilogy.

I'm a fan of the stuff Raymond E. Feist writes, I'm up to Wrath of a Mad God. From the Riftwar Legacy trilogy, I've only read Krondor: The Betrayal, and I haven't read any of the stuff that he's written with other authors. But I find his plots to be quite interesting, though.
I also recently read the His Dark Materials trilogy, which was arguably more sci-fi than fantasy. But it was good.
Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series went down well. So does anything by Kate Thompson
