When did the church start?

Was the church only begun in the new testament? Was it started after the death of Christ? Or was it started after the day of Pentecost? Or was it always there?

The Church started when I started attending. Because we all know the world revolves around myself.

the ekklesia has been around since before Christ! The book of Acts (if we are to be consistent in our translations) speaks of the 'church in the wilderness'.

Steve

p.s. according to the tag line of the OP, that would apparently include Paul who often appears to demean the validity of the Law.

Paradise (the koinonia of God and man).

It became visible/shown at Pentecost.

We only became a part of the Body of Christ as a result of the giving of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost; this allowed us to become 'one in Christ'.

Biblicist: Abel was justified by faith and that was way before Pentecost. I'm quite confident that he and all Old Testament saints are part of what the Bible calls "the church of the firstborn" in Hebrews 12:23.

Steve: Would you care to give an example of where Paul "appears to demean the validity of the law"? Far from "demeaning" it, he rather thoroughly explains it and its purpose.
