The Jews didn't accept them. The Catholic Church didn't even accept them until the 16th century. |

The Catholic church, by which I mean the Roman Church has always accepted these books but officially declared it at the Council of Trent. My question is how did the early church treat them? The Jews didn't accept the New Testament either. I am not saying I accept them as canon, but that I see them of having great value as books that even the ealry church used in support of the Christian faith. I have not decided if they are canon or not. But this should be a seperate thread. By the way as an Anglican I see myself as part of the Catholic church, just not the Roman Church. Plus I accept the teachings of the Reformers on justification, predistination, etc. See the 29 Articles of Religion. Very Reformed.

Oh, I look forward to seeing your evidence for this claim. My question is how did the early church treat them?
There's no evidence that they were considered inspired scripture. The Jews didn't accept the New Testament either.
Seriously? Come on. Let's try to discuss this like grown ups. I have not decided if they are canon or not.
I didn't realize it was up to you to decide. But this should be a seperate thread. By the way as an Anglican I see myself as part of the Catholic church, just not the Roman Church. Then you've either misunderstood Catholicism or you've misunderstood Reformed theology. |

NOOOO....don't make this a seperate thread! Did you make it a seperate thread?! If so, where is it? I love to read debates on something I'm debating with someone else. I know nothing has been posted in awhile, but it would be great if "Cajun" could respond on the Roman Church always excepting the Apocrypha...I thought that was a big controversy within that church (although they might not admit it) b/c sometimes they did, then sometimes they didn't, then they did, then they didn't...so on... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
