Is our God a God of retribution?

I was reading the book of Revelation yesterday. All those agents of carnage and destruction SENT out by God himself. Or this a Jewish way of ascribing ultimate sovereignty over everything to God, even the wicked deeds of men? No wonder the early church had problems over this book. Some even wondered whether it was Christian at all. Jesus spitting us (born again, saved through GRACE, not works) out of his mouth because we are murderers, adulterers, apostates NO, just lukewarm. Is there anybody on these boards that would say he wasn't lukewarm?
