As your new Christian friends will generally be (shamefully but unsurprisingly) unwilling to mention that elephant, I would like to say that it does appear that you have been lied to. But not by who you think.
I hope you enjoy Christianity and that your New Life Church does not teach you to say things this factually incorrect, though these institutions tend to be more concerned with what you believe instead of being truthful so it depends where your concerns lie.

Wow, regardless of what viewpoint you've chosen to take in life (which I respect, just like I respect anyone's free will) it really saddens me how bitter your posts sound and come across...
People have made mistakes in all religions, and not everyone gets everything right (in whatever walk in life). I don't really see how that's a reason to stereotype a whole group of people (in this case, Christians)...as I have personally met decent and not so decent people who are Christians...I soon learn which types of people I prefer to avoid.
Whatever you choose to believe in life, I really hope you can move on and learn to forgive anyone who has hurt you, or treated you badly in the past. Otherwise you really are just destroying and hurting yourself...
And considering the OP was asking to talk with other Christians, I don't really see how it's appropriate to jump in and find an excuse to attack them just because you don't like certain comments they happened to say, whether you agree with them or not. Honestly! You might not agree with what some Christians believe, but the lack of respect is really completely uncalled for!
