Question Why Does God Perform Miracles or Healings on Some People?

I was visiting a church last summer and they had this one girl who stood up and said the week prior at church, she was being prayed over bc she is lactose intolerant and soon after they prayed, she said she had a dairy item and was fine and that God healed her at that instant.

But, now, howcome God healed her right away, yet, there's other people where they are prayed for over and over and over again, yet, nothing happens for them?

Let me just use my grandma as a little example. I have been praying for healing/a miracle to happen in her life for a little more then a year now as she has cataracts and is starting to go blind and i've been praying hard for her as well as my mom has too, yet, she doesn't seem to be getting any better - only worse. Are we doing something wrong? Should we be circled around her, laying hands on her and praying for healing? I thought that miracles can happen anytime/anywhere and u don't need to place your hands on that person in order for them to be healed?

I was partially healed about 4 yrs ago when i was taking a class called divine healing - about 4 or 5 people in class circled around me and prayed healing for the nerological problem i have in my feet/legs and almost instantly, i felt this ligthness and this peace flowing through my legs and i thought it was a miracle, that God healed me. But, that only lasted 1 day - i had been praising God and thanking him for taking the pain away but, after that 1 day of no pain, i felt the pain coming back. Now, I still don't understand Why he partially healed me for 1 day, but, i'm not angry at him either. I still thank and praise him for healing me for that one day and now i know, if he wants to heal me of this problem that i have, he can and he will but, i guess it's not his Will to heal me at this time. This pain, although very annoying and i'm in pain all day long, this pain is a crutch, which reminds me that i need to turn to God in all things, so, now, if i actually had a choice, i think i would choose to keep this problem then to be healed completely bc if i was totally pain free, would i really turn to God and ask for help?? That, I don't know.

Another example is my mom's friend who has MS and she's doin really badly - Myself, my mom, her children and her husband have all been praying for God to heal her. Now, I know God doesn't heal everyone, or, doesn't heal everyone instantly like he healed that girl the one sunday, but, i just want to know why he heals some and why he refuses to heal others?

I myself wouldn't put enough confidence in that childs claim to healing that it would make you begin to doubt or question what is going with your grandmother. I really just wouldn't worry about it. If at all I would be happy for her and use that inspiration that God can heal your Grandmother also.
I do not doubt that God heals people, but Miracles have also never been documented or been substantiated through secular means. They aren't all real.

The bible does say that God can heal people but it doesn't give formulas or strict concoctions mean "you do this this and this and you get healed" that's more like a pagan ritual than Christ like teaching or biblical teaching on healing. The bible says you need faith and it does give examples of the laying on of hands but it doesn't promise that everyone will be healed immediatly or that all prayers are answered immediatly. The bible says that God is source of healing so look to him, not a ritual, not a formula, not a prescription like teaching. He answeres prayer. Continue to seek the Lord for what you don't understand. I don't know why he hasn't healed your precious grandmother. But remember that he is the source, don't become befuddled with all these other things and start looking to other things, keep your eyes on Jesus.

This is why I believe the miraculous healings performed by Jesus and the Apostles were a temporary sign to authenticate the authority of their teachings. Kind of like a divine seal of approval.

Now although I don't limit God's power, I think modern examples of healing can be explained by the body's natural healing ability and the placebo effect. Those who emphasise physical healing are stuck on the milk and water, the baby food. Eventually it is time to grow up and start on solid food, and endure with patience the various thorns life puts in our side.

I notice that whenever I'm physically comfortable, God slips from my mind and thoughts. I become absorbed in the things of the flesh. But discomfort brings my focus back to spiritual matters. I once again depend upon God, sometimes on a day by day basis, just to get me through. So in this light, I see discomfort - all the thorns and thistles of life, as being very dear friends. They remind me that this life will pass, and I can then be free of this flesh to be with God in eternity.

We just don't know. God still heals, but not everyone for reasons unknown.

Even when Jesus was on earth, there were times He didn't heal everyone.

He still heals today.

God can and will heal, but only in accordance with His sovereignty, we do not tell Him what to do at anytime, He is the sovereign God and not a genie in a bottle.

Sometimes I think progressive healings take place to teach us things such as patience and trust in God. I don't think we will ever really know all of why. We aren't supposed to understand it all.

I dispute your assumption that Spirit Filled Christians who not only believe in physical healing but have experienced it are not on a deep walk and as stuck on milk and water or baby food. It seems you are either buying some man defined doctrines or you need to seek a deep walk with God and be filled with the Holy Spirit so you can receive the truth about miracles and healings both emotionally and physical.

If you want to suffer pain and sickness that is your choice. But God can and will cure. The question is why some and not others. God heals physical alements when their is a spiritual healing to be accomplished.

Doubt is evident in you post that God can do anything and is the same today as He was yesterday and will be tomorrow.

I do doubt modern miracles because I've never seen one. This is despite being present during a laying on of hands for a woman suffering the rejection of a heart and lung transplant. She died very soon after leaving behind two young sons.

That miracles have ceased seems so obvious to me, I'm admittedly insensitive, if not frustrated with those who promote such experiences. It misses what I think is the major point of Jesus's teachings: death to self. I feel it reduces God to nothing more than a fairy godmother, ready to puff all our problems away and grant wishes like Aladdin's lamp.

I think the only way we will really get better is to go through our problems, go into them, not have them miraculously taken away.

That I have pride and ego tangled up in my concern, I do not doubt. I perhaps take too much pleasure that I have not needed any sign to convince me of Christ's validity, and that my phyiscal afflictions have never caused me to run to the likes of Our Lady of Lourdes or a faith healer.

I must learn patience for those who believe differently from me, as those must be forgiving of my obvious faults.

But still the question of why miracles don't happen for everyone remains. Perhaps the best explanation is that suffering is not necessarily an evil experience.

I know very many people who attest to personal healing, I have witnessed many many atleast so called healings. I remember times in my youth where I atleast believed I was healed. I also know of no combination of scriptures that teaches that it is good to not be healed, that healing will cease or that we as christians should not seek to be healed. Rather I know many scriptures that say God does heal, did heal, will continue to heal and is supposed to heal. My sister had a disease in her early stages of life that is normally fatal and we as a family believe healing is why she is alive today. We are supposed to base our beleifs on the scriptures, not just what is apparently true. But then again I don't take the bible literally myself.
