Prayer Islamic extremists assassinate only Christian in Pakistanís cabinet

The late Shahbaz Bhatti

Islamabad, Pakistan, Mar 2, 2011 / 11:28 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Shahbaz Bhatti, a leading voice for religious freedom and peace in Pakistan, was assassinated March 2.

The 42-year old Bhatti served as federal minister for religious minorities. He was a Catholic and the only Christian in Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari's Cabinet.

Bhatti was slain by three men as he left his mother's home in Islamabad by car. His usual police escort was not present because Bhatti preferred to keep a low profile while visiting his mother, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Where Peter is, there is the Church. Where the Church is, there is eternal Life.

"The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father's role in an increasingly fatherless society"- Mother Theresa

"But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion?

As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love - that is, to give until it hurts... her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems.

And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion".

The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived. Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, "Look, your son is alive!"

The Government of Pakistan is a federal parliamentary system, with an indirectly-elected President as the Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Pakistani Armed Forces, and an indirectly-elected Prime Minister as the Head of Government. The Presidentís appointment and term are constitutionally independent of the Prime Ministerís term. On September 6, 2008, the Electoral College (composed of the Senate, the National Assembly, and the four Provincial Assemblies) chose Asif Ali Zardari as the eleventh President of Pakistan for a five-year term. The Prime Minister is usually the leader of the largest party in the National Assembly and is assisted by a cabinet of ministers drawn from both chambers of the federal legislature. The current Prime Minister is Yousaf Raza Gillani of the Pakistan Peoples Party, who took office on March 25, 2008.

Shahbaz Bhatti: Martyr For the Faith

Shahbaz Bhatti: Martyr For the Faith

Courage and Faith. Abstractions to many, meaningless phrases to some, to others they are a way of life. Shahbaz Bhatti was in the last category. His faith was obvious to all. As a Roman Catholic in overwhelmingly Islamic Pakistan he was tireless in spreading the Truth of Christ, and in standing up for the rights of Christians in Pakistan.

Appointed Minister of Defense of Minorities in the Pakistan government, he took on the position, knowing full well that he was signing his death warrant. Death threats against him were constant. As constant was his speaking out for the rights of Christians and other minorities in Pakistan.

After leaving his government office each day, he would head over to the offices of the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance, working late into the night to continue aiding Pakistanís embattled minorities.

He never married, thinking it unfair to put a wife and children in the cross-hairs in which he lived. On March 2, 2011 he was visiting his mother.

After he left his car was sprayed with bullets and he was killed. The murderers of Al Qaeda and the Taliban have claimed responsibility.
Evil men have the power to take the lives of the good on this planet.

They have absolutely no power in the next world where I am absolutely certain the latest martyr for the Faith has heard ďWell done my good and faithful servant!Ē and is now enjoying for eternity the Beatific Vision.

God, please watch over the soul of Shahbaz Bhatti.

And, God, please watch over all the minorities in Pakistan.

Keep them safe always. Keep them safe especially from those who wish them harm.

Hail Mary
Full of Grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed art Thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of they womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us, sinners
now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, a world without an end.

Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins,
save us from the fires of hell
lead all souls into heaven
especially those who are most in need of Your mercy.
