Imagine if you could get full salary and benefits for a decent paying job and you didn’t have to work to get it. All you had to do was be accused of a crime.
What crime, you ask? How about molesting school kids?
The most vile of them all. Sick people that search and destroy the children.
Unions and public sector jobs are the most unholy alliance of our times. These beasts should never have mated, because they’ve issued forth monstrous offspring in the form of dire consequences that no one probably saw coming. And many victims have been left in their destructive wake.
You have two bureaucracies with the dual intent of protecting their power at all cost and increasing in size every year. These goals lead to a sickening metastasis that rots both entities over time until they become bloated, cancerous threats to the health of the body politic. []
Why does the state of federal government need special unions to begin with?
Have you ever had a union job? I get the feeling that people who make unions out to be some horrible monstrosities must have never been involved with an actual union. It's simply workplace democracy. Unions allow workers to voice their concerns and remedy them more efficiently and effectively. It insures a give and take between workers and employers rather than the employers simply dictating and the employees being stuck with it.

If you say so.

Agreed, however working for the government puts these unions in a padded situation.
I think this is what Herbie is trying to illustrate, quote:
"He hasn’t set foot in a classroom in seven years since beating criminal and disciplinary charges. Chancellor Joel Klein keeps Olivares in a “rubber room,” a district office where teachers accused of misconduct sit all day with nothing to do."
Do you guys support paying over 94K a year for one guy to sit and do nothing?
Do you guys support paying over 94K a year for one guy to sit and do nothing?
No, not particularly. I think problems like that could be resolved without going to the extreme of abolishing unions for state employees all together though.
