Halal meat,would you eat it?

i have just had this brought to my attention, most meat in the UK is ritually sacrificed to allah and so according to the bible i cannot eat it (Acts 21:25. 1Corinthians 8:1-13) ,this has led to some problems as we live in a rural area with no car at present and so we were doing our weekly grocery shop online from Sainsburys ,it would now appear that a large proportion of their meets, poultry, lamb and beef is serimonially killed ie halal and the company will not clearly label the meat so i cn tell what is and isnt.
the only UK supermarket who's fresh meat is all halal free (haram) is morrisons and they dont do home delivery.
do any other christians have this problem?

I don't ask questions, I just pray over my food, if your conscience condemns you though, not eating it would be my opinion.

First, halal butchery is, like kosher butchery, just a butchery technique, not an act of worship. In order for the meat to be halal or kosher, there are certain requirements in the butchery to ensure that the blood drains completely and that the animal does not suffer (There are differences in the two, but they are relatively minor). There are no prayers, no burning of incense, no sacrifice Christian children.

But second, even if the meat had been intended for non-Christian religious practices, it was not used in those practices, but sold to the general public so it does not matter. Paul addresses this in Romans 14 and reminds us of these teachings in 1 Corinthians 8 and Colossians 2.
1Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. 2For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. 3Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. 4Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. 7For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. 9For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. 14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. 20For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. 21It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. 22Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. 23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Romans 14 (bolding mine)
I know that there is nothing wrong with kosher or halal meat (other than sometimes tasting dry and bland compared to meat with the blood still in), but in accordance with Romans 14:15-16 and 22-23, I would be encouraging you to sin against your principles if I tempted you before you belived in your heart that it doesn't matter, so instead I'll encourage you to find the research available on making meatless meals nutritionally complete.

halal meat all has the 'shahada' (declaration) 'tasmiah' (naming) said over it as its throat is cut,the words used are Bismillah Allah-hu-Akbar' (meaning 'In the name of Allah, who is the greatest') the muslim slauterman is actually dedicating /sacrificing this animal to allah.

Actually, the Bible doesn't say you can't eat it. In fact, it says just the opposite. But if you feel that it's a sin for you to eat it, then by all means, don't eat it.

More meat for the rest of us.

I eat halal meat all the time. I don't seek it out, but I love Middle-Eastern food, and where I live I can't imagine that any Middle Eastern restaurant would even consider serving meat that is not halal. There is no biblical reason to avoid it, but is Floyd says, if your conscience bothers you don't eat it. Of course, it sounds like the might mean vegetarianism for you. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Of course I eat it. Do you think a prayer said at butchering time taints the meat somehow? Ollie Franz is right, it's just like Kosher - draining the blood was very important before refrigeration.
