Labor Day is the last celebration of summer here in the US (and Canada), and typically sees the end of many outdoor activities such as swimming pools, and amusement parks. It's usually celebrated with picnics, street fairs, and other activities and spent with family and/or friends. Some places have parades and fireworks. Officially it's a day to honor workers - but for the most part doesn't have that much political significance today here in the USA, though some politicians use the day to make speeches and others raise awareness for issues, specifically worker's rights, jobs, and unions, etc.
