There are many catholics in the Us too would you call the Us a protestant or a catholic country?
So hitler was catholic. That's a new one. I thought he used to send catholic priests & nuns to concentration camps but I'm definitely wrong...

Germany is a protestant country. That's where the reform took place. That's where it spread to other countries in Europe from.
I don't think it would be fair to say that England is a catholic country either. There are catholics there and there have been Saints which have come from there too. Just like from Germany.

2) Germany is a protestant/lutheran nation (they hold the power) with catholics just like there's catholics in the Us and England. No that doesn't make them catholic countries nor does having a german pope make germany catholic either it makes the pope catholic not the country which is mainly lutheran/protestant.
It is true that Germany is primarily a protestant country. Hitler was a Catholic, and he was from Austria. Austria is primarily a Catholic nation.

It is not easy to talk to atheists, even when you have the best intentions. Right now i am registered also to an atheist forum, and i readed this:

And then there was a lot of pictures of planets, stars, galaxies etc.
I didn't like it, if founded really offensive, and stupid. And a gross generalization. You can't really say that we put the men at the center of the universe. We put God there, not us.
And God is bigger than any cluster of galaxies.
And the term theist is vague and meaningless, you can't say that all theists do this or do that. It has no sense.
Also, to try to insult somebody telling him is an arrogant, and at the same time trying to hide your intentions, is unfair and childish.
At that point as a retaliation i posted this as an answer:
Atheism: in the beginning there was nothing. And then it exploded.
And when they reacted i told them it was the same kind of logic of the previous post. I also told them why the previous post was wrong.
Immediately i was accused of any sort of stuff. Than i was ridicoulus, that i didn't understand the sense of the message, that i was playing the victim, that the message was not saying that we are arrogant , that theists lie all the time , that christians are bullies and so on.
Also , they start talking about science, and when i told them that science has never proved (and never will) that the Lord doesn't exist, they started to get angry. And there was an assedium to Fort Apache.
I admit i was stupid to post that image as a retaliation, i failed to show the other cheek. Truth is i was a bad christian.
At the same time they never made an effort to understand how silly the meaning of that message is. They make generalizations on theism and christianity. They think christianity put the men at the center of the universe.
And this is a lie. We never can be nothing more than servants of the Lord.

Even if he said he believed in Jesus, he never did anything to follow his message of love. He killed christians and jews and everyone that opposed him.
He was not a good christian. Maybe he even believed to be a good christian, but he was not.
Why is it always the atheists that are filled with such hate? I feel sorry for them, I really do. Anyway, good luck with this matter, you are in my prayers!

I think that he believed in Jesus, so he was christian.To be a Christian you have to believe that Jesus is your savior. And in Mein Kampf and in other speeches Hitler says he believes in Jesus.
I know that Hitler followed the occult, but that doesn't mean he is an atheist, and if he believed in Jesus he was still a christian even if he followed the occult.
I don't know if the devil used him, i don't like to talk of the devil. I am not even sure if i believe in the devil. I believe in God and Jesus, if really the devil exists he is nothing compared to the greatness of the Lord.
But as you say i agree that Hitles never followed the teachings of Jesus. So he was a bad servant of Christ. Jesus teaches us that to say His name is not enough to enter in Heaven, and that the Lord has good and bad servants after all. And horrible servants. Like Hitler.

I have decided to join this group and these forums, in order to try to be able to deal with a great tragedy in my life: my step father, his behavior, his beliefs, his past and his acts. I don't want to go into detail about the other things he has said and done, because that is not on topic for this part of the forums. Yet I believe that it is his athiesm which is at the root of his cruelty. Nor do I want to bring politics up, because his political beliefs are also related to this subject, but will be discussed on another thread. No. It is his athiesm, his hatred of religion, his hatred of spirituality, and his hatred of in particular Christians which seems to be at the root cause of his cruelty.
I am not here to discuss "funny" athiests. Athiests are not always cruel or evil, but some are. It is the root cause though, and there is no way to stop him other than to try to as God to protect me.
Yes,unfortunatly there isnt much "funny" about atheism,especially when its in your family. Was he a one time believer? Is he just mad at God or does he hate ALL religions? I know,its always christianity that is singled out even though atheists like to tell me all the time that im an atheist too because i dont believe in Thor!! Its very tragic but I guess the best you can do is pray,pray and pray. I know thats not a whole lot of comfort but you have others praying for you too. I would talk with him about your faith but I also dont know what cruelty you are refering to so handle with kid gloves but at the same time there is nothing to be ashamed of. The bible instructs us to be able to give reasons for our faith. I would determine what those reasons are and then follow your heart. If that means taking a stance against him for God then so be it. We are to love God above ALL. Even our parents. Since I dont know your age I cant really give more constructive advice because if you are under 18 that poses another set of problems. Just know you are loved and you are being prayed for by many on this forum. Do you have a church home? I would consider finding a good church that lifts your spirits and gives you support when needed.
