God made these kids with something extra special. As mentioned already my son has severe food allergies to many foods. It has been a challenging time caring for him. I have always explained why he can't have these foods. God has blessed me with an amazing son. Its not out of the norm to reject any food (including lollies, ice cream) unless he knows mummy says its ok.
He has always been so tolerant - every blood test, skin prick test, food challenge etc. He remembers what hospital is like - remembers being anaphylactic. He understands consequence to actions. If he eats the wrong food he will get sick.
At the same time when he is allowed to have a food, it is like Christmas. He knows he cant eat nuts, dairy, eggs, wheat, fish, soy... but he can now eat corn! Check out my blog post about him eating popcorn allergysave dot com then click on my blog.
I have always made extra effort making food for him that other kids can have. I play around in the kitchen and thank God for my creativity. He eats cakes, biscuits, ice cream, desserts, I try to make things normal for him. If you need recipes or any help with cooking without eggs let me know.
Just know that God will give you everything you need to care for your child |

I have always told them that the foods they can't have will make them sick. As they have gotten older (3&4 now) I explained the more obvious symptoms. My son (4) is very good at recognizing what he can't have, and will even tell me when he has symptoms. |

Now my daughter with the egg allergy cannot be around eggs with out having some type of reaction and has to carry epi-pens with her everywhere. Now try telling a 3 year old that she cannot have certain foods.
I am reading a book about eating healthy foods to reverse diseases. Here is the website: Other Diseases | Allergies, Asthma, Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, Myositis, Psoriasis, Autoimmune and Lupus | DrFuhrman.com Even if it didn't help the allergies, it could help most other to-come food related problems. |

It was so frustrating and isolating for me but what my Mom did that helped was make it fun for me. She found substitutes for things I couldn't eat and always prepared bagged meals for me when I went to a friends house or potluck. My bagged meals were most often better than the meal I couldn't eat. |
