KJV Only Versus Modern Versions

I am a follower of Jesus and not in a denomination. Satan has separated the church of the LORD and the LORD will heal the church. I am saved by the blood of the lamb who is Yeshua The Messiah (Jesus The Christ). I have been learning Hebrew. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of all wisdom.

I have been called out of the Protestant Church for certain reasons the LORD has shown me. I have gone back to the Hebraic Roots of the Christian Faith which is Messianic Judaism which is what the Christian Church started out as. Look at the church today, there is Mega Churches, Denominational splits, fusses over salaries. Is this what God originally planned, or is the LORD going to do something so marvelous that no one has seen since the days of Jesus?

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I see God separating a lot in the Bible. The saved will only be united in Heaven and on the earth when Jesus comes back to reign, but for now, there is no possible way to integrate us all together. I do not see being in a denomination as wrong. I am also saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ alone and not of works.

Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast." KJV

I will not say anymore. You know where I stand. It is useless, Admins and Mods, please close or delete this thread. Thanks. I will not say anymore on this issue. It is like trying to cut water and that will not work. So enough is enough. Silence is golden, I refuse to say anything more.

I do not see why you seem so frustrated. This has been a well mannered debate with no hate. We simply disagree on some issues and it is our job as Christians to study the matter out further to see what the truth is.

I prefer the NASB but sometimes read the NKJV. Both are literal translation bibles and are profitable for study. Personally, I don't like translations like the NIV because they are heavily paraphrased and subject to bias.

These people have a bunker mentality. There's no breaking through to them. Don't bother. Rather, when they come to you, share your testimony and how the modern translations say the same blessed thing as the KJV. It might be useful to also tell them how the 1611 English confuses people, and unbelievers use this to slander God, when a proper modern translation would just cut them off at the knees.

Benjamin Blayney found hundreds of errors and corrected them in 1769. Most KJVs you'll find nowadays aren't true 1611s, but his revision.

There is a fantastic book written by Dr James R. White called "The King James Only Controversy" it is a fantastic read. I used to be in the KJV Only camp and this book changed my life. I have been learning NT Greek (which is mind boggling) The main problem which arises is that our English language is extremely inferior to Greek and Hebrew. In other words, it sometimes takes up to 5 to 10 words in our language to describe one Greek word. Sometimes a couple paragraphs. Translators have to pick which word in their opinion fits best in the current text phrase. Not all translators agree on the words that are chosen thus all the different versions. Then there is the problem of idioms and phrases. "He kicked the bucket" If translated word for word it would make no since to another language so instead a translator would have to say "He died". Or another would say "he passed away" or "gave up the ghost". etc... Anyway it's a great book, well worth the read.

There are still a little over a dozen errors in the KJV. Probably one of the biggest ones is when comparing Acts 9:7 with Acts 22:9

"And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man." (Acts 9:7 KJV)

"And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me." (Acts 22:9 KJV)

Compared to say... the NASB which gets it right:

"The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one." (Acts 9:7 NASB)

"And those who were with me saw the light, to be sure, but did not understand the voice of the One who was speaking to me." (Acts 22:9 NASB)

Anyway, the KJV is a fine version. It is still one of my favorites. I'm am by no means bashing it! All of the translations have an error here and there. That's why it is so important to have several around to cross reference. God did preserved His Word and I believe it is infallible in context.
