Are they chanting from the KJV or the 1662 BCP?
I love a good Evensong as much as anyone, but let's not kid ourselves that there's anything very biblical about archaic English in general or that of the KJV in particular.

I tried to quote you but it didn't work.

That's just about my least favourite of the mainstream modern translations. I find the language very clunky.

It is a bit; but that's what you get when you try and remain as true to a word-for-word translation, and yet have an accurate thought-for-thought translation as well.
Threads like this one show us that there is no perfect translation; we need to sort-out which one(s) suit our needs, and our needs may vary as well.

I find it very smooth and "fluid". Originally Posted by MarkRohfrietsch It is a bit; but that's what you get when you try and remain as true to a word-for-word translation, and yet have an accurate thought-for-thought translation as well.

EXACTLY!!! My wife likes the NIV. I have very little use for it. The NKJV is close to the KJV without all the Thee, Thou, Shalt and Thy's.

It's passable on the narrative, but I find it drab. It's often misleading on Paul where it very often adds interpretation.
