i don't know what the real reason is for his wife filing, but i have serious problems with this statement he made!!
Why?
because i have been "alone" with Jesus for many years now and it not only hasn't killed me, it has done me a world of good. The readings @ Mass this Sunday said... Oh, wait, it was LAST Sunday... said tht if we do not HATE (yes, thats the word Jesus used...) our mother, father... [all our family and everyone], even [our] own life" we cannot be his disciple.
We must love Jesus above ALL human relationships. Is that easy? heck no, and i would be the 1st to say so, but... for one thing, its not impossible and for another thing, it is better to be alone in a lot of ways because humans are VERY distracting.
We are called to "work out [our] savlatoin w/ fear and trembling" (Phil 2:12) The best way to do any kind of work is to be a place where we are not distracted from the work
it's hard enough to live with ONE sinner (yourself)...
