She needs video of at least 2 students to present to some psychologists in ATL for some additional (specialized) training and certification.
This woman has worked with my son for 4 years and she has promised me in writing that his identity will be kept confidential and all video will be destroyed in May 2010. In return he will be given additional therapy and training in social skills.
I'm not sure what to do. My gut says yes, but it is a an invasion of privacy. That makes me nervous. |

They're bound by ethical laws to destroy the tapes when they say they do (I have to do recordings for research as a linguist and even at undergrad we have the same ethical standards) and they'll be used to help him. If it's confidential, then it's not really an invasion of privacy, unless it's of your son in your house or something?
But then I have slightly differing opinions on this to some, since I have genetic abnormalities that were studied by a lot of people in my childhood and early teens in return for very inexpensive treatments (and these would have been incredibly expensive). They did go a bit far in my case and I got sick of it, but mine was being a guinea pig for most of my life rather than a once or twice off thing.

Reps: 57,599,674,103,207,072 (power: 57,599,674,103,223) | | | I would be concerned also but I also hear on how much teachers just in general tape the kids in school nowadays and I doubt the parents know about it (well, except for when it ends up on the news). Several of my teacher friends have those little flip cams that the school has provided them with for use in the classroom.
Granted I don't have kids but if it's in a clinical setting or at least a neutral setting, I see the factor of maybe someone else could learn something too. There isn't exactly enough special ed teachers with specialized knowledge.
