Anyone who enjoys something like this forum is well read enough to know that this is not the norm. Freedom, peace and proserity are not the normal state of affairs throughout human history.
I am middle-aged, middle-class, mid-western, painfully average white-guy.
My experience on earth probably could not even be comprehended by the vast majority of the people who are or have been.
We live in a very fragile bubble, and we are hopelessly surrounded by our historic enemy,
each other.
I'm not a conspiracy believer type, but I do believe that human nature works against humanity. That is why I do not believe in consentrating authority. If human nature were other than what it is, socialism would be a better plan. Human nature being what it is, we need to compartmentalise authority/responsibility', like the water-tight bulkheads of a ship.
Futility is like the "water behind the dam". Futility, tyrany, surfdom and the like are the natural historical state of affairs.

I just don't believe the interpretation of the act to be correct.
Obama will move towards more goverment, more socialism, but it will not be any great leap, as this would be.
Obama knows the people can't be stampeded into socialism, the people would revolt. Obama knows if he nudges the populace closer and closer, it will accept the new goverment powers and continue to graze on the benefits, until they again nudge them towards socialism. He has studied Marxism and socialism, he knows the theories and philosophies of the people that have taught these studies. He himself has taught this.
The flame of freedom in the US will not flare out, but flicker slowly away,
the fuel being syphoned away, one step at a time, until the flame is gone.
The goverment of the people, will shift to the people serving goverment.
As I said, don't trust goverment, but if someone says something drastic is happening, look but don't panic.
