Incest ok for the Adams Family because of "pure" DNA?

We have all heard the justification for incest inside the creepy Adams family.

quoting ps129:
"."For purposes of this question, lets assume that Adam and Eve were the first created humans. Their genes were pure - free from any mutation.Because of the purity of these genes, incest would not cause birth defects and such like it does today. "

Whats your opinions and what genetic mechanisms are responsible for supporting or falsifing this theory? I have a few books on genetics but I have a hard time absorbing the Info about heredity, mutations, and such.
