My son who will be turning 10 soon has been diagnosed in the past with ADHD and ODD. We have had problems with him since he was 3. It is very exhausting and it feels like it is getting worse. He has started cursing when he gets really mad and has thrown things and put holes in walls. We have tried stimulants such as Vyvanse and also now Strattera (Hope I am spelling that right).
I just got done reading a book by a guy named Dr.Ross Greene who wrote "The Explosive Child". This is my son. He has some pretty significant meltdowns. He had one tonight because he didn't want to give the Wii remote to his sister. Has anyone on this forum tried to use the techniques that Dr.Greene mentions. I told my wife we should try it and asked her to read the book as well.
The funny thing is that he doesn't act this way at school and doesn't have meltdowns at all. Though his teacher says he seems tired and kinda sad. She suggested maybe getting him involved in some type of marital arts or something. I suppose so when he attacks us he can kill us instead of just biting.
