Does anyone know about being treated with Clonidine for adult ADHD?

Hi everyone. I asked my psychiatrist to put me on some medicine for my adult ADHD and he put me on 0.1 mg of Clonidine. Has anyone ever heard of this blood pressure medicine being used for adult ADHD? He said that one of the side effects of the medicine helps with ADHD.

Yes. This is the same medication as Catapress, an old, inexpensive medicine to lower blood pressure. It will make you feel somewhat tired, but it will not really do anything to help the flight of ideas, disorganization, or hyperactivity. It is a short-acting medication and if you have moderate hyperactivity, you will need to take it 3 times.day because it is a short acting medicine. Don't increase the dose without your doctor's advice as you could feel dizzy or excessively tired because of decreased blood pressure.
