If I take one quarter of a 1mg Xanax I sleep good but wake up 7 hrs later groggy for hours. If I take a half or a whole I better have 12 hrs to sleep. I used to do better with Valium but I cant get that anymore. Dr's seem too afraid of it.

I use a non addicting medicine for sleep. It is trazadone. Valium and that class of meds. don't put me to sleep but make me sleep longer if I take it during the day. You may want to consult your doctor about Trazadone. I've tried ambien and lunesta and they quit working for me after awhile. I hope you will be getting some good sleep soon!

I am being weaned off of Klonopin. It is a benzodiazapine drug..... so are Ambien and Xanax. The more benzos I take or the higher the dose, the harder it is for me to sleep. There are a lot of people who can not sleep while taking benzos. If you are taking benzos and not sleeping, you need to talk to your dr. If s/he doesn't listen to you or increases your dose, get a second opinion.
