Two Questions

I've been mulling over two questions posed in a book I'm reading. They were posed in a book that I've been reading, well, actually re-reading.

These questions are much deeper, I think, than what they appear. I think it could be quite easy to answer them without really thinking about it.

Question 1: Who am I?

Question 2: Whose am I?

Let's ponder away!

Blessings!

I've been pondering that for a while..and I'm thinking I know the answer to question 2...I'm God's...the answer to question one has to flow from that...

- Stephen Manley

Why would we hesitate? The God of the universe has literally given us, laid out for us a banquet for the soul, to partake and to feast upon His very person, to know Him, the King of the universe, intimately, to discover the inheritance of heaven, all the power, all the grace, all the glory. It's there waiting to be had, and we hesitate.
- Eric Ludy

A true prayer life begins at the place of anguish...Your heart begins to cry out, Oh God, Your name is being blasphemed. The Holy Spirit's being mocked. The enemy is out trying to destroy the testimony of the Lord's faithfulness and something has to be done.
- David Wilkerson

Marycita,

I've been thinking sort of along the same lines. Now that I see it articulated by someone else.

Blessings,

Zoness, I appreciate your honesty on the forum.

Earlier, I went through a seeker stage of where to land theologically and faith wise. I too felt depressed along the way. The feelings are normal as we begin to formulate our baseline for believing in God. I too felf insecure while going through the stage with no baseline. God can handle your tough questions. It is people like you that get the deepest faith and know who they are in Christ.

Keep Going and God will see you through,

I like your answer.

Recently I read about the covenants that God made with Abraham and others in the Pentateuch. They were based on Ancient Near East covenant treaties in which the person[s] became vassals of the more powerful entity [aka God]. They in effect became legally "God's property". In our culture that sounds off putting, but back then it would have made sense. Even though such a concept sounds strange to us today, it still applies - we are his.

For more information [and if you have $ to burn], James Garlow wrote a book called The Covenant. It compares the OT covenant ceremonies with The New Covenant of Jesus Christ.
