Question Questioning my spirituality.

In February of this year (2009) I left a church that dropped my membership due to the fact I didn't attend all the meeting they felt I should have attended. I had known for awhile that it was considered a cult, The International Church of Christ (ICOC). They believed in something called discipling which is they assign you a person called a discipler who you confess your sins to and tell them everything that is going on in your life, so they can have complete control over you. The discipler then tells you what to believe in, what the bible says according to the church thinks it says, how many meetings you are to attend, and do what ever the leaders tell you to do. Since leaving the church I have gone to several churches but have a hard time committing to and believing in the churches I have attended as well as questioning my faith and spirituality. I need to have help in finding the right church and God, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The local church is a place of fellowship, encouragment and corporate worship, it in no way replaces or should ever become your relationship with Jesus. Some might say they feel the presence of God in this church and not in that church. The truth is the presence of God is in the believer 24/7 no matter where you go or what building you might be inside.

The local church should be discipling it's flock, that's part of the commandment to go and tell and teach. But it's not forced by anything other than your hunger for the truth and a longing to be closer to God through understanding.

It's not unusual to see someone who is hurt by a church come into the doors of my home church. They will hold us at arms length for a while but soon enough they find relationships withing the flock and begin to heal.

Find a bible believing, teaching church that understands God's love, His grace, His mercy and His timing. But take your time it's ok to be a visitor, wait for God to tell you "this is your home church".
