LCMS Lutherans view the perpetual virginity of Mary and old/young earth creationism as adiaphora, pious beliefs neither commanded nor proscribed in scripture. LCMS Lutherans are free to follow their conscience or convictions regarding these matters.
(All scripture quotes in my posts are from the Holy Bible English Standard Version (ESV) unless otherwise indicated.)
My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.
Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Psalm 25:15, 16
What position dose the LCMS take on Mary's virginity?
Can you be a old earth creationist instead of a young earth creationist?
It should be said that the LCMS holds to the Biblical account of Creation, and that the Bible supports a "younger" rather than "older" earth. It does not, however, indicate or suggest any specific age.
Peace and blessings of ALmighty creator God be upon all,
The original Hebrew text said " In a beginning"!
Creation of man was 5991 yrs ago, but ALmighty's heavens, with earth and our solar system among them, are ageless! No one will know until our King returns to rule His Kingdom.
As for the Blessed Mother of our Messiah and King.......
Emphasis and cropping mine.
AHS, Get real and stop attempting to confuse people. God alone knows the exact age of man and Earth and most faithful people are OK with that fact.
Please stop answering questions of sincere seekers on the behalf of the LCMS. You are not qualified to do so by your own admission and by the lack of doctrinal understanding you have demonstrated.
MODS, please remove the previous poster's inappropriate attempt to confuse seekers in a doctrinal-specific forum. He is out of bounds here and I will continue to report such posts until they stop and are removed. Thank you.

My understanding of LCMS belief is that the Biblical account of creation is correct and true. An exact age for the earth is not given, but what we know is that by the Sin of Adam death first came on the animals of earth. Before that sin nothing with the breath of life died. If Adam did not sin for some extended period of time then one would expect to see some pretty large and old animals. However, the Bible does give us the age of Adam at his death (930). We know that Adam was only 130 years old when Seth was born, so we know that it was less then 130 years since Adam sined and Death entered the world. It is a pretty young earth I think.
I believe God created the world in six actual days, however I do not think the world was created as a "baby". Reasoning would lead me to believe that it was created to be a certain age. Were Adam and Eve babies when they were created? Physically the earth could be old, but literally young. A verse to support this theory would be Genesis 1:20 "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens." Birds can't fly when they are young. Then when you get to thinking about the plants being populated, how could they feed all the creatures if they had just sprouted?

1 Peter 5:8-9
Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world.

hnnn..... I've entertained that concept for years after seeing Grand Canyon. It would take eons to make a ditch that big. Although one theory makes some sense since the canyon rim is rather high (6k ft) in altitude. Seems that the area around there was an inland sea and the canyon area was sort of a dam for the sea and at one time the sea breached the barrier. Instant canyon. There always seems to be a different way of looking at something rather looking at it through the conventional, accepted method.
Logic would dictate that there wouldn't be enough "time" to evolve all the complexities of the human body. The body is an ecosystem to itself. Besides that evolving is just another word for mutating and that is against nature. It's abnormal.
