A couple of examples would, as in the case of Jim Jones, Joseph Smith and others, show us that errors in doctrine, judgment and focus are the result of many early steps that would eventually take them from small scale to large scale false doctrine.
We as lay people have the benefit of our collective experience in order to order our steps ands avoid the heartbreak of long-term deception.
Even when we are led astray, there are many within reach to help us on our way, and many of us that are equipped to help others. |

Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ Mark 9:7
Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!"

How do you explain Ephesians 4.11 then?
He gave some to be teachers.
Or James 3.1:
Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

And so will a "watchman" and those believers who speak idle words, Ben (Ezek. 3:16-19 and Matt. 12:36)! | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
