As we know the Obama administration is bent on pushing a 1.000,000,000 dollar health care bill through congress. I am interested in your thoughts on this issue. Keep in mind unemployment has reach 10.2% Our administration passed a stimulus bill earlier this year that cost the tax payers 230,000 to 275,000 for each job "created" Can the Govt. manage our health care?By there past record medicaid broke, social security broke it don't look to god for the homey team

And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be aman of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
The Congressional Budget Office says that the bill will pay for itself. The changes it proposes are not significant enough for me, but they are a start. I (and my congressman) are in favor of it.
People need to wake up and realize that our health care system needs to be fixed. This may not be the perfect solution, but as my mentor says, "If something is not working, for God's sake, do something else!" We can't keep doing the same thing expecting different results.

I agree with the poster above me- it's worth a shot. If it goes bad in a few years, we'll have to get rid of it or reform it.
Also, OP I must ask... are you really a Green party member? You are very right-wing judging from this and other posts, and the Greens are the most left-leaning organization in the US, next to the communist party.

I think it is a horrible mistake and it is being pushed at the worst possible time.
God have mercy on us.

I don't support anything but a single payer system and I especially don't support being forced to pay for private insurance if I don't want it. This whole healthcare debate makes me sick. How's that for irony?

The Congressional Budget Office says that the bill will pay for itself.
Well, it doesnt actually pay for itself, it is funded by, from what I understand, $700 billion in tax increases and $500 billion in medicare cuts. It may not add to the deficit (though it probably will) but it will certainly be expensive and impact the lives of every American.

I think everyone realizes the system needs to be fixed, it is just that some of us see the cause of the current problem as government intervention and greater government intervention will only make matters worse.

?? But you support being forced to pay for a state run health system if you dont want it, and you support forcing your fellow citizens to accept your ideals. Help me understand what you are saying here. ??

I'm not going to get into some "HURR FREE MARKET" argument with you because you and I have vastly different ideas of how society should work.
I believe healthcare is a right and that the government should find a way to provide everyone a basic level of care. If people can afford private insurance to get shorter wait times or private rooms at the hospital or whatever then awesome! They can buy it. But those who cannot afford healthcare should not go without or have to declare bankruptcy or sell their homes or spend their kid's college funds. I'm pretty sure you disagree with all this so there's really no point even engaging you. We're just gonna have to agree to disagree.

Tell me, how would you like being paid $5 an hour, and seeing insurance company premiums being sky high?
What's that, you say? You'll go work at another place? But we have no governmental intervention now. Everyone is paying their employees what the hell ever, because there is no minimum wage. And, our skies are polluted to the high heavens so I hope you aren't planning on knocking anybody up- you'll have no health insurance whatsoever.
Get sick and die.
Also, slavery would be an amazing thing for the economy. Just sayin'.
