Italians outraged as European court rules against crucifixes
Rome – Italians reacted with outrage on Tuesday after a European court ruled that displaying crucifixes in the country's schools violated the principle of secular education.
Italy's education minister condemned the judgment by the European Court of Human Rights, saying that the Christian cross was a symbol of the country's Roman Catholic religion and cultural identity.
Mariastella Gelmini, a member of the conservative government of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, argued that "no one, and certainly not an ideological European court, will succeed in erasing our identity," said
Other ministers said they were appalled by the ruling, calling it "absurd," "shameful" and "offensive." Italians outraged as European court rules against crucifixes - Yahoo! News
? What year did the United States of America institute a similar ban of crosses and crucifixes in public schools, anyone know?

I just tried to google it but couldn't find it.
Either way, this is a shame.

What is in our heart is far more important than what is on our walls. We will not be judged by the number of visible Christian objects we have on our walls, or statues we have on public squares or in courthouses, or for our public display of prayer on the street corners. The hypocrites master all that better than well.

Well the statement is correct. Having secular education does not go with having crucifixes. Simple to understand that. So the question is should they be allowed to be banned. Myanswer is simple. Do they allow Islamic symbols and statues of Budha? If not then they should stop complaining. As a christian I am sick of hearing whining about christianity not getting better treatment than everyone else. If anything we should expect this kind of thing more and more.

^ This.
I agree with what Kalevalatar said, what's in our hearts is more important, so why kick up such a stink over something that's essentially extraneous...
It is an indicator of where we are at as a nation. And the world the Lord is taken out here comes the devil and there goes the protection and blessings. Eventhough we are to expect it we are commanded to occupy not only be defense and work until He comes.
