I don't think I'm bad at all, actually ... I admit that I concern myself with worldly things, but in my world (I work in a hospital full of blood, death, panic, screaming, pain, and dementia) I think I do a lot of good by caring about others and making them laugh when laughing is the last thing on their minds. Sometimes the little light-hearted joke I give patients is the last kind thing they hear before they die. (My hospital is attached to an oncological center, which makes the deaths even more bleak and predictable.) But I still love my job, and I've been doing it for over 24 years.
I admit that I've been upset lately reading a lot of anti-science polemic from Christians, but what I find most disturbing are those who think that all they have to do is connect a few dots to get into heaven without caring about others. Is that really what Christianity has descended to? It's like there's a checklist: yup, yup, yup, got mine, you go to hell.
This can't be right. We're all in this together, guys. We can't afford to abstract the pain of others and kiss it off. Whether you believe in an afterlife or not, you need to feel some compassion for those who are in pain right here and now. Just imagine that you're one of these people. Trust me, that time will come. I see it every day.
I admit that I've been really angry at some religious people lately, but I know that they don't represent everyone who holds religious faith. It seems that religion can be such a selfish thing in the hands of people who don't know any better: it's just another way they think they can make a profit or get ahead at the expense of others.
Well, sorry, but it does upset me. This can't be right.
And no, I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush. I have no problem getting along great with religious people who are also decent people. But admit it, can't some of you see what I'm getting at here? Self-absorbed jerks will be self-absorbed jerks no matter what they claim to believe.
Welcome to Christian Forums. I'm glad you joined our community.

Sadly, on internet debate sites, you are going to find some very impolite people....... a professed Christian or not. On the bright side, there are many here at CF who do as we ought....... we care for friend, neighbor & brother. While you explore our community, I hope you find some of us friendly and helpful.
You may be a good person but are you good enough to get to Heaven?
Well, I don't believe in an afterlife at all, but I think I'm plenty good enough for the here and now. I'm pretty sure that you'd like me if you met me as you were in the process of dying, for example. I'm ridiculously likeable, I have to admit.
But that's an interesting question. Would you discriminate on my lack of faith and decline the kind regard I offered at the point of your immanent death? Would you hate on me because I don't share your particular faith?

Nope, I wouldn't discriminate or hate on you at all.
Hello Guillaumin and welcome to the forums. I hope you will see here Christianity and Christians from another point of view, hopefully from a very good one.
Enjoy your time and have a nice day.
