she used to have a great voice. in that 2009 clip though it sounds like she's lost a lot of her range. still not bad, but she doesn't seem to have the same quality she used to.

Oh my goodness. I almost forgot about her. I was in the 4th grade when my sister bought her first tape...Ha...tapes..who buys those anymore? Anyway, I remember the song "The Emperors new clothes" , "Black Boys on mopads"..I can hum the tunes of her other songs ...but I can not remember the name of the song...I soppose I could "wikipedia" her albums but I would feel like I am cheating...Ya know? Now I am gona be up all night humming that song about relationships?? i dunno it was sometime around 1990. I can't think of it...Anyway ,yeah she's cool. She hasn't had any recent hits, or has she?

I know what you are saying. But I think part of that is the fact that she has been singing the song for so long non-stop, it's not going to sound the same as back in the day. With a hit that big she has to sing it over and over, at every performance. She said that she has always loved the song, and has been singing it continually for 20 years.
I've seen bands playing a hit that was only 2 years old, and they sounded horrible. There is just no way to keep it fresh. Impossible.
But the first song (Troy) that I posted, she only sang that a brief number of times after recording it. That's another reason that sounds better than the second clip.

My favourites are Fire on Babylon and the one where she talks about the famine in Ireland and how it wasnt really a famine but the oppression of England at the time.

What a shame, what a shame, to judge a life that you can't change. The choir sings, the church bells ring, so won't you give this man his wings"
Fight the REAL enemy, warned Sinead O'Connor, ripping up a photo of the Pope on his throne of evil......silly paddy didn't know the half of it, either.
