Ray:

I did street evangelism with him in London last year. I am not sure I would agree with everything he says, in fact I am not sure if he is even charismatic, but I thought he was an absolutely genuine bloke who loved the Lord and knew the Word of God.

I enjoy listening to him every now and again.

WotM:

I don't believe that the way to evangelise is necessarily through the law. It can work and does work, and Jude talks about snatching SOME from the fire. There is Biblical precedent with the rich young ruler.

I think Ray's way works, but I don't think it is the only way or even the main way.
But the Scripture says the goodness of God leads to repentance. I like to start the gospel witnessing like Jesus: talk about the goodness of God. I see fruit and I see salvations and I see lasting fruit.

well Ben I have his book by the same name as I stated above, and found something I perked up at. He says that he never prays a sinners prayer with a person as that leads to false conversions in his opinion. He just leaves them to seek God on their own.

He sys the other way makes for a large percentage of false conversions as people think they can continue to keep their pets sins. I went "tilt".

I had never heard that before.

He also says more that is compelling. He says that the churches who preach salvation and then happy times are hurting people. You can promise that you will never be sick, hungry, out of a job or divorced, never die early or from cancer, never have a lack of money or any other thing calling it living life more abundantly.

Then notice that we all are sick or ill on occassion, we all have times when we are short of money or may get layed off at work. Our family could be in an auto accident or move away only to get attacked or worse. He says that telling people that becoming a Christian will make your life safe and happy is wrong and destructive.

Jesus suffered in this world and we should expect no better. Like I said, compelling.

I am presonally more charismatic or Pentacostal I guess. I was carrying the WoF icon when they ere having so many problems in the forums for support.

Truth be told we should only have one faith icon- Jesus. imo anyway

Don't forget about Kirk Cameron. Way of the Master ministers to me. I have a gift and calling for evangelism. I think it is a good way to address the law. To let people know their sin, for it is by the commandment we acknowledge we have sinned. It opened my eyes and I was led to the commandments without an evangelist. The Holy Spirit does a good job of convicted alot of people of their sins and a need for a savior. I have found that if I let God speak through me out of the river of living water that flows from my belly, it works to plant a seed or water it. It is God that makes it grow.

I have never incountered a church that preaches salvation and then happy times, who and where are these churches?

I preach happy times, but I preach happiness stilling the storm, happiness having stoned thrown at you and happiness when your best friend betrays you.

Ray Comfort calls it preaching " God's wonderful plan for your life" and that it is done to fill churches. He says preaching the law will not make people happy in their sin but says it is needed. To have true conversion or rebirth one must be convicted of their sin before salvation. He says a lot or most of the church world thinks Jesus will make all things rosy and great. He says mostly it is the USA that thinks that as most of the world has martyrs a plenty even now.

He says Jesus preached the Law first to shake people up and did not preach love until they weer convicted and repented.

Like I said Compelling stuff.
