Churches have always used more than one building for their services, but a "multi-site church" is loosely defined as a church that actively seeks out and uses multiple sites for their services.
Armed with DVD players, they will go to hospitals chapels, airport chapels, nursing homes, orphanages, prisons, private homes, etc., and show sermons. Some will even rent other church's buildings and have services.
Which brings up a question: Can YOU serve God with a multi-site ministry? |

(At least in the premise you gave) The only issue I can see that would arise would be times when the church partakes in the Lord's Supper, which in itself in an integral part of the service. So as far as evangelism goes, I think it would be a good arm, but it does leave much to be desired. |

They eventually quit, but not before lending me a book on multi-site ministries. The church now has only two members (my wife and I) but we had 59 others in our various services. |

The "Gringo Zone" is the largest collection of Americans anywhere in the world outside the United States. Mostly retired, we surround Lake Chapala, about an hour's drive from Guadalajara.
My wife and I were blessed in a successful Baptist church here, but after the pastor resigned, a small number of people seized the church and would not allow any search for a pastor. They took the church from 120 to 30 in one year. My wife and I left, and we later helped start Community Bible Church of Chapala. This is a branch of a mega-church in San Antonio, Texas, and we watched our pastor preach on the internet. The two founders got discouraged and quit, and with no pastor, my wife and I expanded the multi-site ministries.
We started attending an Assemblies of God church, even though we are not charismatics, because the church is successful at soul-winning. Today we had a fiesta for our Saturday morning church kids, and 53 of the 63 people who showed up were brought by Community Bible Church. |

It's a live via satellite feed service every Sunday morning...
...and it's one of the fastest growing churches in town.
Thankyou for listening.

Thankyou for listening. Andy Stanley has some very good leadership material available for multi-site church planting. We used it to train our first group of Elders when we planted The Bridge back in '04. Exceptional! |
