DUH, did you even read the story by CBS news,obviously not,it was the dudes internet blog!
The officials said the postings appeared to have been made by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who was first reported dead, but is now known to be custody following a shooting incident that left least 13 dead and 31 wounded. The officials said they are still trying to confirm that he was the author and an official investigation was not opened.
From what I read on Al-Jazeera, the Major is a first generation American born to Palestinian parents who used to live in a town near Jerusalem. He's a Muslim by birth and not a convert.
<staff edit> Being Muslim does not mean someone is automatically prone to violence. Hundreds of Muslims have worn and still wearing the uniform and serving our nation with distinction and honor. This is a rare case and is to be treated as such. Seeing the reaction of Westerners here in regards to this, I gotta say one thing. When I'm done serving my country in the service, I'm going to retire to a Muslim nation where I won't be villfied by my religion.

I guess you would condem the German SOldiers who fired upon the invaders at Normandy? It is not a matter of "Defending" anything.
I do not support the arrogant attitude that we are so right that your enemy (Not mine) has a moral duty to simply bear his throat to you and allow you to kill him without offering any resistance.
From a purely military point of view, it is no different than one of our elite units raiding thier base. You can argue that there was no official communication, orders, or other command & control function but this is your narrow view of war. War is not a clash of nations, Armies, warriors, or weapons. When boiled down to its essence, war is a clash of ideas.
So, your enemy (Not mine) is not giving orders the way we our military does. It transmits an idea and these ideas formulate in actions such as these. Welcome to war.
And, by the rules of war, this guy is then a spy, sabotour, traitor, double agent, or defector and should be treated as such.
