Western Ukraine was hit by a severe epidemic of unidentified influenza, tentatively diagnosed by doctors as viral pneumonia. The number of dead has climbed dramatically. Doctors advise Western Ukrainians to stay at home and use preventive medication. The first pedestrians wearing face masks have been seen on Lviv streets.

Ukraine confirmed its first swine flu deaths, prompting Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to order schools and cinemas closed and ban public gatherings for three weeks to contain the spread of the virus.
The government will also introduce "special regimes" to limit the movement of Ukraine's citizens from one region to another for non-urgent purposes, she said. Ukraine has borders with four EU countries.
The prime minister's tough actions came as Ukraine confirmed four deats from the A(H1N1) virus, amid a growing panic over several dozen unexplained deaths in the west of the country

3 out of 14 people who fell ill with swine flu died – head sanitary inspector
Head sanitary inspector of Ukraine Oleksandr Bilovol says that 3 people out of 14 people who fell ill with swine flu died in Ukraine.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, O. Bilovol said this today at the conference call of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko with leaders of regions concerning issues of prevention of spreading of infectious diseases.

Reps: 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 (power: 9,223,372,036,854,836) | | | Another news site, which can not be verified yet, said that the pneumonia is bubonic plague pneumonia that apparently is a secondary infection to the Swine Flu. That is why it is so deadly and causes blood to fill the lungs.
We have had a few incidents of human bubonic plague in California where the plague is endemic in the rat and squirrel population.
