Praying for you, I wonder why quitting chewing is harder for you. Maybe you were getting more at once.
I have heard and I'm not 100% positive how true it is, Smokeless tobacco has more nicotine in it than cigarettesand that the mucousal membranes in the mouth can absorb this faster than smoking. I quit smoking myself and used dip as a substitute, Big mistake, I had problems quitting the dip and went back to smoking. I got physically ill quitting this stuff.
Thats one reason why nitroglycerin is given under the tongue for coronary angina, It gets into the system within seconds. Same with procainamide, Used for controlling atrial fib and pvc's.
I was a paramedic for several years and saw this happen numerous times.

Aside from just quitting, you need to give your mouth something to do for the oral fixation part of it (sunflower seeds, gum, etc.). For 11 years, I started out chewing, then quit that years later by smoking, then quit smoking by chewing again. It was a vicious cycle over and over again.
You may want to try nicotine gum or lozenges to help you, since they will help "lessen the blow" of quitting cold turkey, and also give your mouth something to do in the meantime. Just be careful if you do- these can also be addictive, so you should continue in your focus of using them less and less, until you can finally get through the day without them.
