Danger Lurking in the Water

I will say up front that this has nothing to do with me specifically, though I could be representing America as a nation or the church in America, so in that sense it would apply to me. This is related to some political, national or world event. I am praying for understanding, so I ask that you, if you feel so led, would pray with me that the Lord will direct me to the understanding that he wants me to have from this.

Wednesday, November 04, 2009, 9:00 a.m. – I woke from a dream, but when I got up to write it down, it disappeared from my memory and I remembered another dream I had in the night.

THE DREAM: I was singing with a choir and I had even done some solo work. Then, one day, out of the clear blue, the pastor of the church and his staff began severely attacking and criticizing me. They told me that I couldn’t sing. They told me I had a horrible voice. They even told me that my sister said that I couldn’t sing and that she thought that I had a horrible voice. That was a low blow.

The pastor and his staff went on this crusade to destroy me. I knew I could sing, so I didn’t understand this sudden turn against me. I went into their offices and I shouted at and about them. I even shouted about the pastor in front of the choir. I said that he was a mean pastor. I was extremely hurt at this massive rejection.

Then, I began to think about all of this. Had I treated anyone like I was being treated to some degree? Had I rejected someone else’s singing? Perhaps I deserved this because of how I had treated other people in the past.

Then, I formed a small group of my own out of the large choir. And, I decided that anyone could join even if he could not sing very well. Everyone would be treated equally. END

After I recorded this dream, I was talking with my husband who is working from home today. He told me about a local story of a radio personality who wrote a symphony. When he used the term “created”, it reminded me of ANOTHER DREAM I had in the night where my husband had created a teddy bear. The teddy bear did not have enough stuffing, though, so its cloth (skin) was loose on its body.

There was also something in this dream where I was sitting on a river back with someone. The river was to the east (to my left) and I was facing south. I was facing this other person. I had my back to danger that was lurking in the river (in the water) behind me (NE of me). Evidently there was a huge snake in the water. The person I was facing took something (an instrument of some kind) to move the snake further away in the water, but he did not remove the snake. Since the snake was still behind me in the water, I asked the person I was facing if he would warn me if it began to get close again. END

Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Zephaniah 2:

Gather together, gather together,
O shameful nation,
2 before the appointed time arrives
and that day sweeps on like chaff,
before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you,
before the day of the LORD's wrath comes upon you.

Against Philistia

there they will find pasture.
In the evening they will lie down
in the houses of Ashkelon.
The LORD their God will care for them;
he will restore their fortunes.

Against Moab and Ammon
8 "I have heard the insults of Moab
and the taunts of the Ammonites,
who insulted my people
and made threats against their land.
9 Therefore, as surely as I live,"
declares the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel,
"surely Moab will become like Sodom,
the Ammonites like Gomorrah—
a place of weeds and salt pits,
a wasteland forever.
The remnant of my people will plunder them;
the survivors of my nation will inherit their land."
10 This is what they will get in return for their pride,
for insulting and mocking the people of the LORD Almighty.
11 The LORD will be awesome to them
when he destroys all the gods of the land.
The nations on every shore will worship him,
every one in its own land.

Against Cush
12 "You too, O Cushites,
will be slain by my sword."
Against Assyria
13 He will stretch out his hand against the north
and destroy Assyria,
leaving Nineveh utterly desolate
and dry as the desert.
14 Flocks and herds will lie down there,
creatures of every kind.
The desert owl and the screech owl
will roost on her columns.
Their calls will echo through the windows,
rubble will be in the doorways,
the beams of cedar will be exposed.
15 This is the carefree city
that lived in safety.
She said to herself,
"I am, and there is none besides me."
What a ruin she has become,
a lair for wild beasts!
All who pass by her scoff
and shake their fists.
