Update: Father Michael Lewis has pancreatic cancer - please pray
Father needs our prayers. He wrote:
The CT scan revealed a mass growing on the head of my pancreas that was pressing on the common bile duct, thus shutting off proper digestive function.
A biopsy was done and the results were given to him yesterday, Monday, Nov. 2. Father has not mentioned anything yet, but he did say that he lost his father at 54 to pancreatic cancer.
UPDATE November 4, 2009
Please see this post for the latest news from Father Michael:

Shout aloud to the Lord, all the earth; Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with great joy. Know this: The Lord, He is God; He made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving And into His courts with hymns; Give thanks to Him; praise His name; For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And his truth is from generation to generation. ~~Psalm 99~~
I have wonderful news to share! Today's endoscopic ultrasound revealed that I do indeed have pancreatic cancer (no need to write about the details of the diagnosis). However, the doctors presently agree that it was caught soon enough, and thus limited enough in scope, to allow me to be a strong candidate for surgical removal. This is the best news that I could have possibly received. The surgery will be rather extensive, with many things removed and rearranged, but it offers the best opportunity towards healing. Thank you, most loving and merciful God!
Please continue to pray as the surgery might render him a complete diabetic.
O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of St. Nectarios, St. John of San Francisco, and the Most Pure Theotokos, have mercy on Thy Priest, Michael, and grant him health and salvation.
