My Pastor has been going through the Heidelberg Catechism during adult CE for the past couple years. It's only supposed to take one year, but we like to get into heavy discussion and really dig in and go through all the Scripture references. It's pretty awesome!

We had an Adult class over the heidelburg catechism a few months back. It was interesting. It was taught by one of our older elders who originated in the Duth Reformed tradition.
For children I believe they use the Westminster smaller catechism. I will check on that though.
(clipped) . . .I know the PCA normally uses the Catechism for Children put together by our publishing arm of the denomination. My wife teaches k4-k5 and loves it.
The Heidelburg is a wondeful catechism and I was just curious if it's still used as a children's resource.
Does the PCA use the Heidelburg Catechism or do they just stick to Westminster Catechism, only?

The Heidelberg Catechism isn't part of our confessional standards, which is essentially the WCF and accompanying catechisms. However, the content and theology of the HC is substantially in agreement with our confessions and we highly regard it as a faithful summary of our common reformed theology. So, many of us (and our Pastors) will regularly use it for edification and teaching alongside the Westminster Standards even though they aren't bound by it.
