My doctor has told me that I have it. I wake up in pain at night all the time. I'm sorry you have it. I hope your doctor can help you with it. There are treatments out there for it, maybe you know this already. I am praying for you to be healed by Jesus who works through others. Best wishes to you.

30yrs with fibromyalgia and a host of other aliments that come with fm & aging. it has disabled me, which triggered deep dark depression.....and so on.
recently realized a funny thing though, God has given me a worshiping heart.... when depressed, exhausted, in excruciating pain... unable to think clear enough to pray.....yet the Lord enables me to give thanks. i'm blessed, thank you Jesus.
once athletic, active in church, worked 2 jobs, raised 2 boys and very active outdoors woman. now severely limited, i'm learning new ways to enjoy the things i love in a different way.
there is a good day here & there, there are poor days and super rotten days. just so happens this week has been super rotten but, today is a bit better.
Glory be to God!
In Christ love~

For those of you who don't know what it is, its where your body has pain even though there's nothing really wrong...
I have it (light case) ...even though I'm only 16. Is there anyone else out there who has it too?
Not to be rude, but there is something really wrong when you have Fibromyalgia...your "pain dial" is turned way up. There is something wrong with the nerves that causes extreme sensations (burning, tingling, pain, stabbing, pins and needles, skin hurting from wind or clothes barely touching it....etc.). Our pain thresh-holds are really low...even though we are really tough It also causes chronic fatigue and "brain fog" (where you cant think straight or remember anything...i get that really bad. i can give some pretty humorous examples. I causes lots of social problems for me, because I'll forget mid-sentence what the topic of conversation is... and all too often do I put frozen food items in the pantry... or empty skillets in the fridge....i do this with lots of things, its rediculous.
I've had it for years.....you get treated awefully by people who are ignorant and by doctors who think you are a hypochondriac.
Normally, people have other ailments that go along with this.
For me, I also suffer from mental illness......OCD, anxiety/panic disorder, and depression. Pain like this will cause depression, even in the most slap happy people like me.
I've been on about every medicine used for "fibro".... Lyrica made me so overweight, I quit taking it...i'm still trying to lose that weight. Savella made me aggressive...
I'm on Cymbalta, but it gives me night sweats and fast heart rate...the level it out with trazadone...which also helps me sleep.
I also take tramadol for pain. Amytriptaline was a good one too...and its $4 at walmart. but I'm not on it anymore.
ALSO, many sufferers of Fibro find they have a vitamin D deficiency.....vitamin D helps me ALOT....I highly recommend high doses of it....after you get it checked by a blood test, of course.
ALSO.....I have had shingles 2 times in the past 5 months (and i'm only 32)....other than not handling stress well, and my fibro, they have no idea what is causing my immunities to drop so low that I would get this. THey think its a combination of my fibro and anxiety. Personally, I think that Fibromyalgia is an auto-immune disorder.
ok, now that I have given you all more information that you ever wished for, I'm going to go crawl back into my hole (waterbed...which I highly recommend for people with fibro) and TRY to sleep. Hope this post helps someone.
Peacedweller: I just want to say I sooo relate to you being active and raising a family then being disabled. I raised twin sons, loved to garden, cook, wallpaper, generally run a household. I was a Respiratory Therapist and loved my job, and now am disabled. I am walker dependent. Quite a change, huh? It can be very depressing if I let it get ahold of me.
Scottswife: I get lost mid-sentence too! LOL and lose track of what I am doing. Pain has a way of occupying our minds whether we like it or not. I have a very high threshold of pain though and this still beats me up. I agree a bed makes a world of difference. We went the route of tempurpedic. It's a strange bed, but it helps.
My prayers are with all who posted here. Wish I could have been a member when it was first posted.
God bless us every one.

I have a question .. I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and I've been told (even by doctors) that Fibromyalgia is term that a doc/specialist uses when they don't have an explanation for the symptoms. I know what I feel and experience is real .. but is "Fibromyalgia" real?? Is there something else really wrong with my body or is settling with the diagnosis Fibromyalgia a real one? Just wondering what other's opinions were because I'm kinda on the fence.
Yes Fibromyalgia is real. It has a lot of symptoms but they're not because it's 20 different things. Fibromyalgia just causes a lot of different things in your body to go in high alert so to speak.
I have Fibromyalgia, I'm 23, my mom has it as well. I do believe there are different ranges of pain, suffering etc. Any age most likely can be consumed with it.
Hi everyone,
Yes Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Myofascial Pain Syndrome are real. There is some thing wrong and something causing these illnesses. The more research that's done the more this is proven to be true. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is classified as a neuro imulogical illness. Myofascial Pain Syndrome / Chronic Myofascial Pain as some people now call it is generally being thought of as a neuro muscular illness / disease now. Fibromyalgia I'm not as up to date with that research but it's real. The truth is all of these are speparte illnesses but unfortunately for some of us we can have more than one of them and this is even more difficult because they need to be treated differently. One treatment for one illness may cause a 'flare up' (make it worse) in an other illness. One of the best things to do is to keep searching for healthcare professionals who REALLY understand these illnesses and to look for credible information. More and more research is being done and more and more books and articles are being written. "An Overview on the Canadian Consensus of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" was published in year 2003 but it is still helpful and relevant. There are some good books out there but you need to be careful because some of them will bring up spirituality not just medicine when dealing with pain. It is difficult to find medical books by christian authors. However, there is good medical info. and some of the written works deal with myths. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's a learning process for all of us whether we are diagnosed or not. We can't go forward unless we understand and embrace what God has asked us to deal with. God most definitely helps us but some times He wants us to make an effort so we can grow and learn. The reasons can only come from God when the time is right or a little bit at a time along the way. One thing we can be sure about is that He truly does care. Believe me I have been through a LOT, not just with these illnesses but life in general. I wrote a blurb in the chronic pain forum "coping with illness"; it might encourage some one. At least I hope it does. Take care.
