My 14 yr old has a new boyfriend, unfortunately he was the boyfriend of both daughters long time friend.
Lets fill in the ages so maybe you can understand the problem better.
My daughter 14, her long time friend;13 she was dating him when she was 12.
The boyfriend is a Senior in Highschool-17. He is in my daughters Spanish class.
He seems like a nice guy. We have spoken with our daughter and made it clear we want her to be honest and open about their relationship, no lying, no sneaking around.
We have not let him drive out of our little town with her yet. He has driven her to school a couple times, and they went to the Holloween dance together.
My daughters best friend(we call her our adopted daughter) gives him a good reference, for driving and for being a nice guy. I trust her opinion, more then my daughters, because love is blind, and he will behaive in front of us.
Not happy that my daughter has a 17 yr old boyfriend, 3 yrs is a big difference at this age. But if we demand they break up, they will stay together behind our backs, and than the whole relationship would be a secret.
Youngest daughter has been "dating" a boy for 3 years, they are 1 year apart, they have actually only been out for school dances, and going with family functions(his family and ours). They are devoted to each other, and have no hormones to worry about, even if they did, they are never alone together.

Islam is not the problem, blind faith is.
Christians need to cast their nets in the sea of despair, not in the aquarium of church-----come, I will make you fishers of men.
I don't understand the notion of not being a parent because they might not listen. If they sneak behind your back...handle it. But to not do the right thing because they might sneak? To not put your foot down and just allow it? No Way! Would you let her do drugs because she might go ahead and sneak behind your back? Would you let her drink because she might sneak behind your back?
14 and 17..a senior?? When does he turn 18? Aren't his parents concerned? If their hormones do get the best of them and on one of their drives they fool around...he could go to jail and possibly carry the title sex offender. If you give permission to "date"....DFS might have something to say. When he hits 18...he's a legal adult...your young(what, freshman?) daughter will be dating an adult.
Yikes!

P1: We are allowing her to date, as long as she is totally open and honest with us. She is not allowed to ride outside of our small town with him. He does drive her to school. She can date as long as she is being honest.
"Would you let her do drugs.." I wouldn't but my Wifes Uncle would. His son died of a drug overdose. So now his daughter can do drugs in his house if she wants. So he can be there to save her if she overdoses. And no I don't think this is the right answer.
looked online, for answers, found three different version of crimes.
most reliable looking:
Soliciting someone at least 13 years of age and less than 16 years of age to engage
in sexual conduct5 where the defendant is at least 18 years of age, 4 or more years
older than the victim, and not the victim’s spouse—
Unlawful sexual conduct with a minor
8 Engaging in sexual conduct with someone the defendant knows to be at least 13
years of age and less than 16 years of age (or is reckless in that regard) and the
defendant is at least 18 years of age and not the victim’s spouse.9
Knowing this, I will not correct my daughters belief of the crimes.(she believes it to be a felony, if anyone 18 has sex with somone under 18.) We are not letting our daughter run wild. They can date, as long as they behaive correctly. Showing trust in ones children will encourage them to be trustworthy, and be responsible. While all the time, keeping them out of situations that might lead to problems.
We are watching them for any signs of problems. Driving, pushing our daughter to do something she doesn't want to do, encouraging poor school habits, ecouraging disrespect to her parents, and so far we see no signs of this. They were in the livingroom using the laptop, when I wallked in, I believe he was trying to kiss her, and she ignored him. I don't know for sure.

Well sure....I let my 7th grader know I trust her...let her have freedoms including the freedom to mess up and learn from it...but those freedoms and opportunities are age appropriate.
whatever, your kid, your post about teen turmoil.....my measly 2 cents.
