Hey everyone, this is my first post! I usually am the type to just "lurk" and read about others, but I have something wearing very heavy on my heart lately.
For the last couple of months I have been having a lot of conversations with people of different beliefs and cultures on the web, and most of the time we end up at one point or another talking about our beliefs. I have always believed that I chose to be a follower of Christ, because that is the only true way to Jesus.
Here's my biggest thing, and I want your opinions on this, do you think God sends everyone else to infinite suffering? My parents believe this, and the more and more I think about it, the more I realize God is too good to punish anyone forever.
Dear Timothy Thompson , how are You today in Gods Creation? Although the choice of words that You are Using on here are slightly OFF COLOR I would say You are inadvertantly correct in what You say!
God does Not send Unbelievers to a Firey Grave ... It is the unbeliever themselves that admit themselves into "H E Double Hockey Sticks" by not accepting God's Grace and His Free gift of Salvation and Living a life for Him.
Our God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Our God is the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Our God is the Creator of the World , Our God is the First and the Last , the Beginning and the End the Alpha and Omega . Our God is a Loving God (You are correct on that point) Our God is a jealous God , He will have no other Gods Before Him, Our God Longs for all to accept Him and desires none to perish . Our God cannot tolerate Sin, Our God cannot be in the presence of Sin, Our God Has sent His one and only Son to perish on an old Wooden cross here on earth so that we would have a way of escape, a way for Salvation, a way to accept Him as Our Savior. Away to enter paradise , a way to stay clear of "Hell".... God Bless You My Brother and May the Next person You post, Tell that person the Good news of Jesus Christ and Let the Holy Spirit convict You of the truth and the Holy Word of God, Amen and Amen...Dave
Dear Drewimus ; Congratulations on becoming a member here on the Christian Forums; I look forward to conversing with You when ever You would like ....
.About Your concern For the lost in the world, Be very aware that the other world, the world in which We do Not physicaly see, but is very much in interaction with Our own, has dynamics that are very unexplainable to the human being.
But in God's word, He has Given us ample insight as to how things are,in order that WE can form decisions on our own, that enable us to live lives that are in harmony with His will for our lives. It is when We step out of His will that We as humans are out of harmony with His plan For our lives. being in disharmony, or out of sync, or just plain Sinning is what separates us from God .
The eternity of Suffering that You have spoken of Is "Hell", Eternal Punishment as some call it, Is actually Our sinful nature that is Our own accuser, it is what is separating Us from everlasting life, and so it was necessary For Jesus to Die as a Sacrifice, For payment once and for all, to redeem us lest We go To eternal Punishment. There would be no Hope if it was not for His work on the Cross. but for Him to die was not enough, He had to rise again, of which was also accomplished on the third day, after His crucifixion, He rose again and later ascended into heaven to sit on the right hand of the Heavenly Father (God). So that all Mankind Might be Saved through His Shed Blood at Calvary. But ultimately the only way to Salvation is through Jesus Christ, Savior of the World, and this Gift must be accepted, and it Must also come with repentance and a willingness to receive Him into Your Heart, where the holy Spirit will Live and Reside In You, so that You can rest in the Grace of Jesus. All Honor and Glory belongs to the Savior of the World, Our Lord Jesus Christ. God Bless You Drewimus, and all Who Read and particpate In His work, Amen....Dave

I think you did the right thing in learning about other beliefs thereby widening your horizon. I agree with the replies posted that God is not going to punish you in some sort of hell for not adhering to a particular religious belief. In he end, choose the one which is most sensible, while not giving in to wishful thinking.
Threatening some-one with hell if that some-one refuses to follow a particular belief is the first sign to be wary.
I'm not worried about myself, since I am a Christian. My worries are about my fellow man. A larger percentage of the world population is NOT Christian. Are all of these people of different beliefs really going to spend eternity in Hell? I don't think so, but everything I can find in the Bible says the only way to Heaven is through Jesus.
Oneofchrists,
I tried to read your response, but it is so scatter-brained I'm not sure where your actual response is. I don't mean to be offensive, but your spelling and grammar are very difficult to comprehend. See my response to Kutte, to see if I clarified where maybe I was a bit incoherent.

I believe according to the Word of God, that without Christ it is impossible to be saved. Our faith in Christ hinges on this truth for if we can be saved by any other means then why should we be Chriistians? I for one would not be a Christian today for I would still be searching for another way.

Yes! This is exactly what I believe, and I'm going to assume, that you and I both would almost rather say we know this is true rather than believe, because it says so as plain as day in the Bible. And if you don't go to hell, as Roy so thoughtfully asked, why are we all Christians?
My worries still remain, as I can't see how two-thirds of the planet's population (that's if I include all sects of Christianity in the remaining third) burns in Hell everlasting. I know there is an answer out there, that's why I'm putting myself out there for the internet to see.

Does God send people to Heaven? Also, I don't believe God gave us the 10 Commandments in order from least punishable to most punishable. Sin is sin in the eyes of God, no?
IMHO there's some misunderstandings of the different meanings of hell, referred to in the scriptures. We serve a loving, merciful God who's judgments are true and righteous.
