I've been worrying lately...

As it stands, God is the Holy Judge, so I think we're avoiding the issue if we say that He doesn't send people to Hell, but what we miss is, look at what He's done for us so that we DON'T go.

His only beloved Son is sent to us, and dies in our place, and is risen to give us hope, and you tell that to someone and they give you the evil eye or some indifferent remark and brush it off. Don't you see that as variably slapping God in the face or spitting on His works? Is it any wonder His wrath remains on the unrepentant that have heard the truth but rejected it? Such a profound work, and even we, the believers, wrestle with our faith and such! Is it any wonder it says the saved are barely saved, what remains for the unrighteous? Praise be to our Lord though, for His mercy triumphs over judgment.

Those who end up going to hell, will receive everlasting punishment, because the fire will completely destroy them. "This is the second death."

If one chooses to put their trust in God, then Jesus stands in for them and they don't have to suffer the curse of the law. And yes, sin is sin in that if you break one sin you break the law, but not all sin is equal. That said, all sin is worthy of punishment, and if the punishment is serious, perhaps the sin is worse that we think. But my point is is people didn't sin, they wouldn't have to worry about hell. But because they do sin, and no one makes them but themselves, the punishment is just.

I have always struggled with the same issue. I have felt at times that I was just lucky enough to be born into Christian family....why should someone that wasn't be punished. At the same time, it is our duty to spread the love of Christ. So it is up to us as well...

Thank you all for your replies. In this verse, it seems that unbelievers, the vile, murderers, idolators all seem to be equally wrong, as they all end up being sent to the same fiery lake.

So, fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, my question still remains. How can God in all of His love do this to people? I am incapable of loving anyone infinitely like God, yet I seem to be more compassionate because I couldn't even bring myself to say Hitler deserves to burn in Hell forever. Maybe 100 million years, but trillions? I'm going crazy!!! Infinite punishment for finite crimes, this isn't the God that I know. I just want this to make sense

God didn't do this to mankind, Adam did. The fall occurred in the garden and our (i.e. we/us/world) consequence was separation from God. Look to the cross, bro'. The cross speaks volumes of His love for a fallen world, how He sent His Son to die in our place and redeemed us through the Blood of the Lamb.

We all have a choice of where we're going to spend eternity: With Him or without. Let Him use you to share the Good News to those who are perishing around you.

Drewimus My Brother in Christ, Please understand again that it is not God that allows sinners to go to a firey eternal Grave... It is the Sinners Themselves who by not accepting the gift of Salvation God Has for them that puts them in "Hell" as for the souls who have never heard the Gospel, I believe that God being all patient and all compassionate will Judge those Who never knew or heard His Precious word but He will judge them lightly in accordance to His Mercy...When all Have heard There will be no more excuses.

As Far as this thing tearing You apart Drewimus, I once heard a wise old Preacher Say..."Worrying is like paying intrest on money that a person does'nt even owe" in other words, it is all for not , it will not change the conditions and how they are, The Only thing that Can Change, is You, and Your attitude toward the Power of His Precious Holy Spirit and the effect that Your prayers have on any given situation.

This is the Word of the Lord if you don't think the answer comes from there, then where else? IMHO you do not burn in hell for infinite years, you only burn until your forever dead; "this is the second death."
