Had a real revelation in the last few days of the importance of praise. Have been looking at the blessings and cursings in Deuteronomy 28 and found in verses 47 and 48-
"Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you.
Now, I know that we are no longer under the curse and so we do not need to live in fear of this happening but it made me SO aware of how important praise and thanksgiving is in God's eyes and how I have so often not taken it seriously.
On Sunday night at an evening meeting hosted by another church I was thinking on this as I was praising God and I felt a real lightness come into my whole being and relief from some physical symptoms I was experiencing. An attitude of joy and gladness makes a huge difference! (Might need to share this with some of the mumblers and complainers in my own fellowship!!)
Heere are some excerts from a book, I'm currently reading: They are NKJV
This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise. Is 43:21
You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people,
that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacfiface of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips,
giving thanks to His name. Hebrews 13:15
Praise the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises to our God:
For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful Ps 147:1
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised:
so shall I be saved from my enemies. 2 Sam 22:4
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Ps 34:1
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of out God, in His holy mountain. Ps 48:1
Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will
show the salvation of God. Ps 50:23

Joy and gladness we are to serve God. The joy of the Lord is our strength. We are to give with a cheerful heart. We are to ask with praise and thanksgiving. There is a tremendous amount of Joy in our relationship with God. No rule or rite can inspire this joy. Only the Holy Spirit who is our Comforter, our Teacher. And Joy has at its root perfected Love. How can you NOT be joyful if you love uncompromisingly and with zero fear? It doesn't matter what anyone says or does to us, what winds and waves come against us - our joy is complete and impervious in Love. Life in Christ is an awesome thing indeed!
Psalm 9:1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonders. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. 3 My enemies turn back;
they stumble and perish before you.
Praise is so powerful it causes the enemy to turn back, stumble, and perish.
It's true. When I praise with all my heart, fixing my eyes on the Lord, the enemy does not hang around to feed me lies.

Second, practice your religion without adulterating it or toning it down. Third, emphasize love and make it your working force, for love is central in Christianity. Fourth, study the non-Christian religions more sympathetically to find the good that is within them in order to have a more sympathetic approach to the people.”
