God knowing and not interfering doesn't absolve people of their guilt. Psalm 51:4 says: Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you are proved right when you speak
and justified when you judge.
And yes He does know it is happening. If He didn't know He wouldn't be omnipresent, omniscient, or omnipotent. |

Do you believe that God gave us "free will", the ability for each person to make right or wrong decisions, to choose to do good or evil ... just like He did with Adam and Eve? If your answer to my somewhat crass question is "yes", then I believe you have the answer to your question as well. If not, just let me know, and I will try again! Yours and His, David

Which is a great question that I think our predecessors answered extremely well, but we haven't, really. Probably because our culture tends to reject the answer, it's not an "easy sell" to people who think of people as generally innocent or good.
No matter what, either God's incapable of stopping it (and thus not God) or God is not stopping it for a reason. Normally we get that far, and stop. But Romans 1 essentially says that God deserves far more than our righteousness and worship, and for that offense God turns us over to the natural consequences of our unrighteousness -- the evil that befalls the unrighteous.
It could also be considered a warning to humanity in general of the eternal judgment we ultimately deserve.

He has His reasons for not stopping it. One thing we know is that He is looking forward to the time when there will be no more wicked people on the earth. He hates wickedness. It grieves Him.
So all I know it that it grieves Him. And that there must be a very good reason for Him not stopping it. It might have something to do with the fact that those people do not belong to Him, He has no jurisdiction over them. Not that He is not powerful enough, but I think He is following some rules we don't know about. Like after the devil deceived Adam and Eve, they became the devil's. And Jesus came to buy us out. He couldn't just take us, He had to buy us with His blood.
You know how when there is a war, bad people can cause a lot more damage than good people. Because bad people don't care HOW they destroy. But good people follow certain moral rules even when destroy. So following some moral rules LIMITS what they can do, and makes it harder for them to win. So God might be following some rules which prevent Him from interfering in those who are not His. Or maybe He also has to be careful of the domino effect: once you change one little thing, everything else (every one's path, life) changes.
ACT 20:28 the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.
JOH 10:14 "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me -
JOH 8:47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."
JOH 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil
JOH 10:26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
PSA 145:20 The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. (at the end)
PSA 5:4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
6 You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
PSA 7:9 O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.
(He will at the end of the world, which is coming up)
There will be a new kingdom, this is talking about the future:
PSA 9:5 You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
6 Endless ruin has overtaken the enemy, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished.
7 The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment.
8 He will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with justice.
9 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

If He only allowed us to make "good" choices and always stopped us from making bad ones, would we still be able to say that we have, Free Will? Yours and His, David

But it is prevalent. Domestic abuse is also prevalent. Abuse in war is common. Embezzlement and cheating others, robbing houses, stealing credit card numbers... it begins to look like the entire earth is full of corruption. GEN 18:20, 23, 32
And the Lord said, "The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave. "I will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know."
Abraham came near and said, "Will You indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; will You indeed sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous who are in it?" (...bargaining forty, thirty, twenty, ten)
And The Lord said, "I will not destroy it on account of the ten." Ge 6:13
Then God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. Ge 8:21
the LORD said to Himself, "I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.
Genesis 9
I establish My covenant with you. Whoever sheds man's blood,
By man his blood shall be shed,
For in the image of God
He made man.
This is short and simple, but God showed regret for handling corruption by eradicating it. He placed the responsibility into our hands.
That was the rainbow reminder ... not just God's mercy, but His delegation of responsibility to us. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
