Sunday, November 01, 2009, 8:25 a.m. – I woke this morning from a dream. I don’t remember the details of the dream. What I do remember is that I was being attacked (bitten) physically on my body and that these attacks came from several different sources. I could literally feel the pain of the varied attacks to the point to where the physical pain caused me to wake up. End
Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Nahum 2:
Nineveh to Fall 1 An attacker advances against you, Nineveh . Guard the fortress, watch the road, brace yourselves, marshal all your strength! 2 The LORD will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste and have ruined their vines. 3 The shields of his soldiers are red; the warriors are clad in scarlet. The metal on the chariots flashes on the day they are made ready; the spears of pine are brandished.
4 The chariots storm through the streets, rushing back and forth through the squares. They look like flaming torches; they dart about like lightning. 5 He summons his picked troops, yet they stumble on their way. They dash to the city wall; the protective shield is put in place. 6 The river gates are thrown open and the palace collapses. 7 It is decreed that the city be exiled and carried away. Its slave girls moan like doves and beat upon their breasts.
8 Nineveh is like a pool, and its water is draining away. "Stop! Stop!" they cry, but no one turns back. 9 Plunder the silver! Plunder the gold! The supply is endless, the wealth from all its treasures! 10 She is pillaged, plundered, stripped! Hearts melt, knees give way, bodies tremble, every face grows pale.
11 Where now is the lions' den, the place where they fed their young, where the lion and lioness went, and the cubs, with nothing to fear? 12 The lion killed enough for his cubs and strangled the prey for his mate, filling his lairs with the kill and his dens with the prey. 13 "I am against you," declares the LORD Almighty. "I will burn up your chariots in smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. I will leave you no prey on the earth. The voices of your messengers will no longer be heard."
My Understanding: I am representing America and/or the church in America. Since I was feeling these attacks on my body, and the term “body” is often a reference to the Body of Christ, I can’t help but feel that this is speaking about God’s judgment on the church which will come in the form of physical attacks, as well as verbal attacks, I’m sure. Sometimes verbal attacks can hurt more than physical attacks.
Capitalism: free enterprise - the doctrine or practice of giving companies the freedom to trade and make a profit without government control (Encarta).
This passage of scripture begins by saying, “An attacker advances against you, Nineveh.” I believe the “attacker” is Obama and his administration. The passage continues by describing the “attacker” - “The shields of his soldiers are red; the warriors are clad in scarlet.” A shield can symbolize protection and defense. It can also represent a country or a group’s “coat of arms,” “official emblem” or a “police officer’s badge,” according to Encarta’s Dictionary. Basically, this shield identifies the bearer of the shield with a particular organization. Red: The color of blood; associated with socialism and communism; relating or belonging to the former Soviet Union (Encarta).
So, this “attacker” that is advancing against us here in the USA is socialism and communism led by Obama and his administration. And, it will attack us from more than one source, I believe. The Lord has shown me China, Russia, Germany, Venezuela, etc. as all coming against us. They are all communist countries or were communist countries. So, the true “attacker” is communism which is the enemy of capitalism. Also, more than one source can refer to multiple plans of the advance of socialism and communism within the decision-making processes of our own government, such as the recent health-care legislation, the recent declaration of a national state of emergency preemptive of an actual literal state of emergency, etc.
Just as I felt these attacks against my body pierce through my skin, these attacks of socialism and communism will pierce through the walls of our cities and the walls of our institutional churches, too. These attackers will indeed plunder the silver and the gold. And, we will tremble just like my body trembled when I felt the pain from these attacks. V. 8 says that Nineveh’s water supply is draining away. The people are saying “Stop” to these attacks on our capitalism but the enemy keeps advancing. My commentary suggests that “water” became a source of death to the people where it had once been a source of life to them. It also suggests that, based upon vv. 11-13 that Nineveh must be judged because she had filled herself with foreign plunder. Now she must be plundered. I truly believe the Lord is applying this to the USA.
This judgment has as its main purpose, I believe, what is spoken about in v. 2 where it states that the Lord will restore the splendor of his people. God’s purpose is to bring his people back into a right relationship with him and to restore his church to what God intended it to be from the beginning and not what it has become. Though the USA has brought much ruin to God’s church as they have followed the patterns of the world and man-made religion, God plans to restore these “ruined vines” and to bring his church back into true worship and fellowship with him and to making God their One and Only God. God is calling his church to repent and to turn back to the Lord Jesus Christ in complete faith and obedience.
